On Top of the World, Looking Out on Creation

It was a little hard to say good-bye to the Ahwahnee.

And soaring vistas.

And magnificent Half Dome.

And the friendly black bear that, for reasons unknown to me, is actually honey-colored.

Q. How many tree-lined meadows can one park hold?
A. More than you can imagine. And I have a photo of every one of them. Trust  me.

But we're on our way again. Tioga Pass, here we come!

Up and up...

and up some more....

From 5,000 to 6,000, to 7,000 feet...

And 8,000 feet...

We're on top of the world here!

9,000 feet, folks! And still counting!

Lake Tenaya is a favorite with these two...

They like to skip stones when they camp here.

I like to look at the beautiful trees.

And I kinda like to look at these guys, too.

Back in the car so we can reach the summit.

10,000 feet!!

Okay, 9,945...At least, that's what the ranger station says.

Exiting Yosemite National Park. *sigh*

And entering Inyo National Forest.

The scenery changes and becomes more rocky and arid.

But still beautiful.

What do you think of the June Lake Loop, en route to Bishop?

17 miles of sheer beauty.

And a couple of cloudbursts, too.

Last stop today is Bishop. And this is the view from our hotel room.

Free wi-fi. In room. AND a desk.

Loverly.

You should put these all in a digital frame. They are so breathtaking. I think I need to start planning our own trip. ; )

I've never been up the Tioga pass road or gone over to Bishop.
Looks like I'm a fool for going all the way across an ocean to see beautiful stuff.
Isn't California amazing?!
Good pictures.
