Autumn Lullaby

My grandkids just took off for a soccer game, so I thought I'd take this opportunity to get down with the Saturday Centus. Since Jenny was a little bit wicked this week (requesting lyrics to the tune of Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star), I decided to go gruesome. The prompt, as always, is in red.

Autumn Lullaby
to the tune of Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star

In the autumn, goblins howl.
Ghosts and ghouls are on the prowl.

Leaves are bleeding red and gold.
Hallow's Eve looms dark and cold.

Witches streak across the moon.
Sleep, my darling. Sleep and swoon.

Another gem, Sue. I love the imagery and am humbled by your poetry. It should replace the original song.

Great take on the prompt--I like cooler temps but not all the spookiness.

Now this I like - but not a song to send a babe to sweet sleep;-)

Awesome job Sue !

No matter what Jenny throws at us, you excel brilliantly every time. We are visiting our grandkids next month and I might just sing this cute poem / song to them since it will be so close to Halloween !

PS - Thanks for your comment on "In The Ditch!"

I loved that! Kind of sweet and creepy all at the same time. Can't you just picture it being sung by a spooky children's chorus as background for a scary movie?

Excellent, Sue. I was able to sing it in my head (T-T Little Star is never going to leave my head after today). Great pictures too. laurie @ Battling My Inner Critic

Loved the poem and the pictures; it was awesome.
You are so good at writing poetry. Have you ever published a book of your poetry? If you haven't you should.
Blessings to you and keep on enjoying those sweet family moments!

Great poetry. It's even singable. But is it something for the little ones?
Maybe.
Best wishes,
Anna

This was just for fun, Anna. I wouldn't really use it as a lullaby for children.

(Not for my children, anyway. This would have given them nightmares with their fertile imaginations!)
