Ode Owed to a Tree

When life is getting hard for me,
I climb up in my favorite tree
and look down on the world below
where grass is green and flowers grow.

I start to feel good sitting there,
secure within my branchy chair.
Up high, the things that made me frown
look way too small to bring me down.

The sky's more blue; the sun's more bright,
and all my dark clouds turn out white
when I climb up my favorite tree.
Oh, what a friend he is to me!

It seems that there might be a new book in the making--poetry and photos of your grandkids.
Reminds me of Shel Silverstein a little today!

I love it! Trees really are my best friends I always climbed them. And I agree with Jen, you could make an amazing book!

oh Sue -
I LOVE THIS!! I taught preschool several years and for reasons I don't really know, I felt that I needed to leave that for a while. I miss it SO MUCH!! But I have hopes that it will come back to me, someday. I was a tree climber, and I have 4 tree climbers living with me. I've never SEEN the hubby up a tree, so perhaps he is a closet tree climber!!

The photo is fantastic-super cute kids, gets it from his grandma I'm sure. It's so true there's nothing better than climbing up a tree to a secret hide out to make the day better

I used to sit in our cherry tree for hours while I was growing up. That tree was my dearest friend.

Reminds me of me - I was a dedicated tree climber! Oh how I miss these days . . . maybe I just need to find the right tree!

How cute is that? I love the picture by Heather and I absolutely love your poem. I hope you are transferring these neat poems to your poem website. I would hate to think they were not on there for the benefit of everyone!! Thanks for this

I have a confession to make: I am a tree huggin' fool.
I love trees. Climbin in 'em. Sittin' under 'em. Breathin' 'em in. Love. trees.
