A Proud Grandma

These three grandkids of mine are full of fun, and I love each one dearly. Anyone who knows them would agree that they are energy, excitement, and enthusiasm personified. Incorporated, too. Yep, the electrifying presence of Jeremiah, Carli, and Bryce charges up (and drains!) this old grandma's batteries like nothing else in the world.

What's more, they make me laugh. Out loud and often. Every single one of them owns and is learning to wield a first-rate sense of humor, a good thing because it appears to be a requirement survival tool in this family. Their father, in fact, is certifiably crazy hilarious, a trait that got him out of more than a few scrapes in his younger years. (Got him into a few, as well.) He is also a big tease, as are these wonderful kids. Their mother, of course, is a saint for putting up with all of their shenanigans...and even documenting them via many of the wonderful photographs I share with you.

My three youngest children haven't tested the waters of parenthood yet. When they do, I will be every bit as dotty about their kids. And why not? I certainly can't control it, which is fine because I don't even want to. After all, uncontrollable (unconditional) love is what being a grandma's all about, right?

=)

And isn't it amazing, the capacity we have to love more and more? I can't wait to be a grandma.
Can't wait to love more!

I'm quite convinced that they feel as lucky to have you as their grandma as you do about them! Grandkids are the best!!!

Grandkids are your reward for not having strangleed your kids when they were growing up!

I get a huge kick out our gang too! Yours look like they would be a ton of fun. I'm enjoying this stage of my life more than I thought I would. I used to think it meant I was old if I was a grannie...I never realized it would mean I would have more fun!

You're right, being a grandma is about unconditional love. I am so fortunate to have 18, (thanks to Stacy for an extra three), grandkids and how I do love every single one of them!! Their fun is my fun, their hurt, my hurt and their happiness is certainly my happiness.

It's funny but true, grandchildren have an edge over ones's own children, and I don't even know why. I really do love my five children fiercely and would die for them, but maybe it has something to do with the fact that you don't get to see your grandchildren that often, and that makes your time with them even more precious. Funny, too, because for the most part, especially when they are lots older as mine are, they are so wrapped up in their own lives that their feelings for grandparents aren't quite as deeply felt as ours are for them. So I say, enjoy, enjoy, enjoy them Sue, while they are still young and unencumbered.

I'm sorry, but I don't know why my comment was repeated three times, hence my deleting the last two times. I really didn't mean to emphasis my comment that much.

Isn't it just the best?! I can't wait to see my two tomorrow evening - just three days there, but better than no visit!

Being a Grandma is the best! It's like we have this little special place in our heart reserved for grandchildren, but it doesn't come to life until they are born.

Your Mom is so wise....that is true about grandchildren having the edge over our children. I'd never thought of it that way, but yep, I think so!

I didn't realize your DIL is a photographer...wow!

Sorry, I sent that last comment before I was finished. I meant to say I looked at your DILs website and she has a real talent for taking photos. Why didn't we have such creative photographers when our kids were growing up? Back then it was just sit right here, and snap about 10 times, and you're done. Now they photo kids all over the place.

Yes it IS! And that's what I hear about being a grandparent--that it is the greatest feeling in the world! It's like the love of your children MULTIPLIED because it literally IS the multiplication of your children! :)

I know that you are the best grandmother in the world! And the other grandchildren who enter into your family will no doubt feel the same way!

Ahh, so sweet. You sound like a wonderful grandmother. We have one more on the way right now, but I keep hoping my middle child will be expecting soon. The three we have are so much fun!
