Good Stuff

You may find this an odd list, with all things secular, spiritual, and superficial intermingled, but I just wanted to share what my favorite things are today...things that are making me happy this morning.

1. A crisp feel of fall in the air.

2. Conference this past weekend, especially talks from Elder Hales, President Monson, and Sister Elaine Dalton. I also liked what Elder Packer said to the young people.

3. Lavender chamomile and lavender vanilla wallflowers from Bath and Body Works in my bedroom. Ahhhhh.

4. Having the scriptures on my Kindle and iPhone. (Who knew? Okay, probably everyone. And the iPhone app, which is totally free, also gives me conference talks, the hymnal, Ensign, etc...all at my fingertips!)

5. The Soundhound app that only requires me to put my iPhone up to the radio or CD player to have the song and artist identified. Just singing or humming a tune into the iPhone works, too! (How cool is that?)

6. My green smoothies, which are indeed lowering my blood pressure and causing slow but steady weight loss. Also, the Vita Mix I use to blend them! (Pricey, but that thing grinds peanuts into butter in seconds. Probably grinds rocks to dust, too!)

7. Johnson's baby powder and baby lotion. (I've gone back to my teen years, and it's nostalgic for me!)

8. Coconut milk and water.

9. Simon Cowell's new show, the X Factor. (They get way better singers than American Idol does.)

10. Frozen, organic mango chunks! (Imagine candy popsicles.)

11. Some of the members of this year's cast on Dancing with the Stars. (Is it just me, or is there a better crop this time, with only a few clunkers?)

12. One square daily of those 73% chocolate bars I used to hate. The ones that are actually good for you and not hard to exercise self discipline with because they are kinda bitter. (I am thinking of buying them in bulk!)

13. My new and not nearly as ugly crocs.

14. The line-up for this year's Bridge School Benefit Concert.

15. My new down-alternative comforter. (I can't stand the smell of the goose feathers.)

=)

I am totally with you on #'s 1, 2, 4, 5 and 9! :-) I had to give up #11 because it became a disaster and the whole Chaz Bono thing this time is too much for me. I miss Derek though. Oh, I love #12! Is this message in code? ;-)

So with you on #2. I could make a whole list just on that. Re Elaine Dalton's talk, though, I wish she would give the same talk to mothers. It's easy to point at the men, who traditionally have been the ones largely to blame for the moral breakdown in families. But I've had my eyes opened (big time) over the past few years about the number of unrighteous and unvirtuous women/mothers out there who are wreaking havoc in their families. It's sad, but it's oh so true.

what a lot of great info! I am totally going to buy me some Lavender chamomile and lavender vanilla wallflowers ...I didn't know they Bath and Body had those. Also, I am interested in the comforter but I have a question...Did you also buy a cover for that? If so where did you find the cover? I've thought of buying one of those comforters before, but then it always says you need a cover and I'm never quite sure what to do after that. Do you have a Calif king like we do? (sorry for all the questions but this post really sparked them.)

That looks like a great list of things. I just loved conference. Is it me, or does it just get better and better every time? I've noticed that young people are actually excited for it now compared to when I was their age.
I didn't know you could smell goose down? What does it smell like? :)

I love your list - so simple and real. Bridge school concert - that sounds AWESOME. Dancing With The Stars is so bad this season. I can't even begin to get into it. I'll have to switch to SYTYCD. I LOVE alternative down comforters, and there are such good ones out there. I hate feathers flying all over the place, and LaMar is allergic to them anyway. I love that they come in all different weights. My fave - the very thin ones. They're just right for down here - haha, no pun intended!

Great list! I feel so behind in commenting so I had to go and read your previous posts....I enjoyed conference this weekend also in the comfort of my livingroom...ahhh...a very spiritual experience! It's been cold, wet and windy here which means is Oct. in Ohio. Love it! Have a great week!

Great list of things you like. I am with you except for perhaps the green stuff. That mix would be hard for me to get used to.

What's with Robin? Derek is definitely back. In fact I can't believe he's brought Ricky Lake along as far as he has.

I absolutely loved Conference, and I can honestly say that I was sorry after Sunday afternoon that it was over.

I always love DWTS's good or bad. I always have my favorites and there are always those that are painful to watch. Ha Ha

Conference was awesome!!

I need to try green smoothies - I haven't quite worked up the nerve. I am bad - I have had a Vita-Mix for 16 or 17 years and I rarely use it.

I have never heard of X Factor - Hhmmmmm.

I am at this moment watching Chynna Phillips dance to her own song - I like her.

Enjoy your comforter!

I like x factor too...caught it for the first time last week.

I find the older I get the less I can tolerate perfumes and strong lotions. I love the softer smelling lotions now.

My mom had a Vita Mix. I wonder what happened to it. My dad was always buying her new gizmos and doodads like that and a Veg-O-Matic etc. ~AMes

I have between 15 and 18 pairs of crocs. They are the best for a bad back. You'll find that with your back, I'm sure.

I love my Vitamix which my friend, Sue, mentioned in her blog...and I promptly bought.

I'm drinking a green smoothie each day, but mine are mostly fruit, mixed with broccoli and/or avocado. I've had a couple made with spinach. Yeah....too green for me.

Can't watch all of Dancing With The Stars, so I stream it on my computer and, when my faves are done dancing, I turn it off. I do like the crop of dancers much better. I'm rooting for David Arquette to hang around for as long as possible. He's likable.

Eva Cassidy and I go way back. I own all her stuff. Do you know her story? If not, I can give you the Evelyn Wood speed version one day.

Guess I'm gonna have to start watching X Factor. And Sister Dalton was awesome. So much different when that advice comes from a woman, isn't it?

The Soundhound app sounds really ingenious and I love your new crocs! They are sporty and kind of preppy. I REALLY love them!

Glad your blood pressure is benefiting from the green smoothies--that is great news, Sue!

It appears you have a lot to be grateful for--other than that 73% chocolate. Ick! :-)
