Yes, my friends, we finally have...
A TREE!
We even have a tree poem!
©1993 Susan Noyes Anderson
We’re picking out a Christmas tree.
Oh boy, I just can’t wait!
December 25th is near––
It’s time to celebrate.
The family piles into our car
and finds the biggest lot.
"Let’s get the best," my mother says,
"the very best they’ve got!"
But this one’s crooked, that one’s short,
and those are almost dead.
The rest have broken branches, holes,
or something worse instead.
Five hours pass and still no tree;
my dad’s about to break.
"You want the perfect tree?" he growls.
"Then let’s go buy a fake!"

See why I shouldn't post poetry?
I love the poems that flow from your pen- or keyboard, you really are quite the word-smith.
oh yeah, love the poem. For the first time in my entire life i do not have a Christmas tree. I am using a little fake one. I am trying not to feel too sad.. so I'll just remember THIS poem
I KNOW - it's kind of how it goes, isn't it? I'm always a sucker for the poor little crippled tree in the corner. The sad one that no one else wants.
Haha! I love that poem! You really captured christmas tree shopping with a family!
And that's exactly what we did! Except I prefer the spindly Charlie Brown trees myself. But they are such a fire hazard. And then where to put them when Christmas is over? We don't have a service here that picks them up so everyone just dumps them on the side of the road.
o how sweet is that? I always leave your blog with a happy heart!
I don't know why it takes so long to get us motivated to get Christmas going but it becomes worth it in the end. Lovely tree and fantastic poem.
Merry Christmas to you and your family!

I love our fake Christmas tree. Each year we are afraid will be the last, but the next year we pull it out again. Frankly, I don't like the new fake Christmas trees. They are too full and I like to put my own twinkly lights that also play music on our tree. Also, you can see the trunk which looks totally real and we like to put ornaments clear into the tree, so that is why I like one that isn't too full. We will probably use this one forever. I too, love your poem.
hehehe
We have a fake one, and it's so much easier than getting (and getting rid of) a real one.
