Tomorrow promises to be one more in a long list of happy days my family has shared this summer. We are heading for Lake Tahoe and my little brother's wedding to the long-awaited woman of his (and our) dreams. Yep, he has found himself a real winner on this second go-round, and we are excited as can be.
A little less exciting is the fact that I always have trouble with my blood pressure when I hang out in lofty altitudes, but my plan is to down a little extra medication and hope for the best. Wish me luck, okay?
Every one of my siblings will be attending, and I don't have to tell you how I feel about being with them, to say nothing of the fact that all of my kids and most of my nieces and nephews have found a way to come, too. Needless to say, my mom is in family photograph mode (ugh), but I will be a good sport and try not to fret because I didn't lose any of the weight I'd wanted to drop before being immortalized in living color for posterity. (Don't be surprised if I wear black with a splash of some flattering hue at the neckline.) No, I'm not in mourning...I'm in hiding!
What I won't be hiding is the big smile on my face.
=D
HAPPY WEDDING EVE
to
RICH AND STACY!
(and to their already well-blended family of six kids, too)

It sounds like it is going to be a winner of a weekend - beautiful place, wonderful event, all the family there!! I am totally with your mom I would be in family picture mode too :-D
Here's the secret to looking skinnier in a picture - stand in the front and make sure two kids are on either side of you. Make sure each is standing slightly in front of you on each side, then all that shows is the skinny middle!!
Have fun!
How exciting. Have a wonderful time. I hope you will post pictures.
smiles. just be careful and monitor those levels...have a blast...then come tell us all about it...smiles.
My Friend,
The nurse in me cannot help coming out! Please check with you doctor before tinkering with you B/P meds. (End of mini-lecture).
I do so hope your weekend will be all you hope it will be. I envy you your large extended family and the way you so lovingly cling to one another.
Namaste..........cj
PS - Black is fine for a wedding - with a splash of color at the neckline, of course! Have fun.
Soooooo SAD that I won't be in the middle of all the fun and celebration. HAPPY - HAPPY - HAPPY for Rich and Stacy. Please post pics!!!
Tahoe looks beautiful. Love Cherie's picture-taking advice too! lol
Hope the day is perfect!
Looks wonderful! We love Tahoe, have a great time!
I'm with cj above in not tinkering with the BP meds unless checking with your doc...you don't want to end up in the ER with problems.
Looking forward to seeing the pics...black and all! I'm there with you sister! My fav color lately is that too :-)
How great for you to be with all your family in such a beautiful setting! Hope each minute is filled with fun for you!!!
To my thoughtful nurse readers:
No worries. I checked with my doctor, and she has given me a short acting version of my medicine to take in a pinch. I just hope it does the trick!
=)
Hope it is beautiful. I think you should wear something bright and as happy as your smile! Just my opinion....
"I'm not in mourning, I'm in hiding!" That might be the best quote I've ever read. Hilarious. Yay for weddings, congrats to the happy couple!
Yea, weddings! It's always fun to celebrate life with family. Have a great time at that gorgeous location.
I think I've worn black for almost every child's wedding, and I don't see a thing wrong with it! I hope you feel well throughout - perhaps the happy emotions of the day will carry you through! Good luck and have fun - congrats to the bride and groom!
The setting sure is beautiful and I sooooo understand the black outfit thing. I hate my photo being taken, but I've quit putting up a fuss because I don't want to forget the happy times and I don't want my posterity to never know who I was! My Grandma was a full figured gal who loved a party, who loved food, who loved to dress up. I never, and I mean never, saw her in black. She was beautiful to me and she made all her clothes and loved to sparkle in jewelery too. So I say enjoy yourself to the hilt, eat, be merry and congrats to your brother for finding love again.
Oh , I hope it's a wonderful trip and that your blood pressure behaves!! What a beautiful place. And a wedding...two great blessings.
A family wedding - what fun! I hope you have a grand time and then come back and tell us all about it.
how wonderful that will be!!!
I take it you mean by lofty altitude you mean higher altitude. Let us know if your up in meds helps.
My DILs mother was named Stacy Rich...so it seems funny that Rich and Stacy are getting married! :)
Oh your Mom is going to love this weekend too. Have a most wonderful time together. And remember, if you are anything like me, you won't like the family pictures now perhaps, but 10 years from now you will love them.
Oh, for the joyful occasions that bring us together with our loved ones! I'm envious.
I don't like to be photographed either, but someone reminded me that, if I was always behind the camera, there would be no me for my loved ones to look back on when they reminisced while looking at photos. I thought about my kids and have begun to suck it up. But I reeeeeeally don't like it.
AW! Sounds like a wonderful weekend! Blessings to the bride and groom! Enjoy this special time with all your family! & good to hear that you checked with your nurse about the BP meds.
You will look beautiful!
Blessings & Aloha!
Thank you for your kind words about my wee baby quilt.
What a glorious event. Love Cheries skinny picture tip here!
I hope your BP doesn't get wonky on you. Those high elevations to that to me, too!
PLUS I get all tired out from it, too.
Congratulations to a lovely couple.
Oh I came late to read...I hope the weekend and the wedding were wonderful!
I love Cherie's advice. I am going to have to try it soon.
How wonderful to have all your siblings gathered together in one place. Family is so special, and those bonds are precious. I am glad for your wonderful weekend!
