When I Grow Up

Just had to post this woman's photo this morning because her countenance makes me feel right at home, as if I were not only invited to her world, but made welcome there. Her friendly face looks well-lived-in, like the coziest kind of cottage, and you know what? I want my face to look like that, too.

I have a feeling getting there is all about being at peace with yourself and others, opening yourself freely to life and the people who live it, expecting good to come your way because goodness is what you are giving out, and being grateful for the beauty that surrounds (and becomes) you.

Yep, I think I want to look like she does when I grow up. I even want the hat.

=)

PS. As many of you know, PJ from Seens From The Backs Of My Eyelids, has a brother, Henry, who lost everything he owned to fire on Saturday, July 24, 2011. The outpouring of help for Henry has been so overwhelming that PJ wants to thank everyone in a special way. On the evening of September 7th (a week from now), she will have the computer randomly select three names from the comments made on her blogpost today. The first name selected will win a $100 e-certificate to Amazon.com. The second name selected will win a $75 e-certificate to Amazon.com. The third name selected will win a $50 e-certificate to Amazon.com. Not bad, eh? Just visit her site for more details. Thanks, PJ! And we're glad your brother is getting lots of support from blogland.

Such a good face!
Sue, you're reading about goats! Are you thinking of starting a little herd?

She looks like she is at peace. Isn't wonderful there are so many out there that want to help and make change in the world?

I'd love to chat with her, too.

(You realize you just killed my chances of winning PJs giveaway, right?)

I would love to have her peace at any stage in the aging process.

She does have a great face. And I think looking like her in my older days would be a good thing. I once had my picture taken by a friend who then erased all my wrinkles. I hated it. I felt like my character disappeared. I earned those wrinkles!! :-)

a smile and a hat radiates confidence. Does it get any better?

If someone said that about me....ah! Now that would be an awesome compliment.

She has a lovely face, and you have a look just like it. I think Lauren Hutton has a similar look. Women who are happy with who they are, and are comfortable with every last line and wrinkle - because it was life's experience, good and bad, that put them there. I don't think you can live a full life and not get them. And I'm learning we should wear them proudly.

She does look familiar. Kinda like I think a friend that I knew long ago might look at her age. However, my dear, you do have a very nice face yourself!! I think Karen is right though. If you feel okay about yourself with all your lines and wrinkles, you are a happy contented lady. I am very comfortable with my lines and wrinkles and goodness knows I keep getting more and more. So what!!!

That countenance is something to shoot for in older age...that and just the right touch of eccentricity...and the hat....with a feather or brooch on it....or maybe both.

Tell Dar she's counted in the giveaway. And thanks for helping me thank everyone Sue.

She reminds me of someone I know!

I'd like to read her Wise Woman Herbal for Childbearing years! Look at all the books she has written! And coming from an agricultural family, I agree with her that natural is always best!

I agree with you--something about her makes me feel SO welcome--right at home.

I think you have a countenance like that too, Sue.

My hubby is looking over my shoulder and he said "She's pretty." I said "Do you think so?" He said, "Oh, yes, but then I love to see any one with a smile on their face". So true. This lady looks elegantly nice and you're right...cozy!!

That look on her face makes me think of The Sound of Music for some reason. I think it's her expression.
