Saturday Centus is here again, and with it comes a new prompt and a specific genre: science fiction. (ugh) The good news is that we get to add 100 words in addition to the prompt, which is in red.

Crocodile Tears
"Beam me up, Scottie..." Laura clicked off the TV and settled into their new-generation tempurpedic. One more Star Trek re-run, and she’d turn into a pumpkin. “A Vulcan,” she corrected, her voice too loud for the setting. But what did it matter? He’d vanished so silently and completely he might never have been there at all. What kind of man slinks away in the night, without warning? “A Reptilian,” she replied, shouting at the empty room as if he were still there to hear.
Lightyears away, he panics. “Coincidence,” he insists fervently to his scaly superior, but it’s too late. She’s already been neutralized.

Oooooh! I just got the chills reading this. Good one, Sue!
Nicely done, Sue. But I have to laugh - I'm so unpoetic. I got stuck on "Beam Me Up, Scottie" and all I could think of was a photo of Jake, our Scottie, staring into space (stalking moths)... a friend, upon seeing the photo, labeled it "beam me up, Scottie"

Ha! I think you may have found your new calling!
That was excellent! :)
Oh Sue, that was truly very well done. I didn't expect the ending - it was wonderful. Really, wow
Standing O for this one. You achieved sci-fi perfection in my book. Bravo!
What a great ending, Sue! You nailed it!
That was awesome sue - Great ending!
You inspired me to finally get on the ball and join this week!!
This is really great! I could never have done this kind of response and you did it SO well.
That's what Congressman Trafficant always used to say...
Oh this was so good. Kinda creepy LOL. Good job.
Ooh really great job with the genre and fabulous ending!
I suppose that's what one should expect from intergalactic affairs- scaly business those reptilian lovers.
I got a kick out of this one, and I'm sure Dick did too. He is a true Star Trek fan, as you know, and I could almost hear the Star Trek theme as I read this. Or it may have been Dick's cell phone.
ok, for some reason, that just gave me goosebumps. NOOOOOOOO
LOL! That was a very cool story, Sue! For being a tough challenge with this sci-fi genre, you really pulled it off brilliantly. Great Centus!
You did a fantastic job with this Sue. I just couldn't get into the whole sci fi thing. You nailed it. I loved the ending, totally unexpected. I loved this! Kat
Fantastic play on words!!!

Always love coming by here and enjoying your work.

Maggie
Interesting way to handle science fiction!
Creative and a little scary for those of us with great imaginations, Sue. I think I recognize the Reptilian as an ex-husband of a friend of mine.
Very cool take on this one!
Creepy...
and very well done.
Yes...that was creepy. Is there nothing that stumps you?
Okay...errie some, but mostly just cool and funny! Thanks!
Sue, I'm ever impressed. You told a story that leaves me wondering; packed it with humor, romance and tension; and I love the outbursts the characters have when alone. It all feels very sci-fi, too.
You really are brilliant.

I think you should now go out and write a si-fi, or maybe just a sequel for Star Trek. I'm sure there's a market for that, and you seem to know all the jargon. teehee
Seriously, you do have a great imagination.
I can see it. You pulled this one off very well Sue!~Ames
Bravo...brilliant piece.
A great piece of writing...a Sci-fi with disastrous consequences....some aliens can't be trusted...
Oh Sue. This was absolutely tremendous! Wow, wow and wow!
I think you can pretty much write any style, any genre.
You are amazing.
