Leaving on a Jet Plane

Yep, I'm leavin' on a jet plane, (and I really) don't know when I'll be back again...

I'll be heading for Southern California today to help care for my daughter-in-law and grandchildren while she is recovering from a severe, systemic allergic reaction. Boy, I never realized our bodies could get so ill from something that doesn't agree with us! Fortunately, she is doing a little better than she was initially, but I think it will take more than a few days for her full energy to return. It's too bad, because she had been training her heart out (and her legs, too) for a half marathon that she may have to forego now. Very frustrating for her, I'm sure.

Today will be a hectic day getting ready to go, and my life will be a bit crazy in the coming week(s?), so I hope everyone will bear with me if the quantity and quality of my posts suffer a bit. Of course, I will have some time in the evenings after the kids are in bed, but I may be too tired to open my laptop! On the other hand, I may need to post more often to preserve my sanity... heehee  (At least, I hope I'm kidding.)

One thing you can count on is a few fresh pictures of the three cutest children on earth. And a few fresh boasts from the proudest grandma.

Another thing you can count on is my next book giveaway, soon to be celebrated in honor of my 200th post. This is #186, so I'll be filling you in ere long.

=)

PS. Oh, forgot to mention that Lisa Lou at Is That A Garage Door on My Ceiling? is having a BIG giveaway to celebrate her 100th blog post. You might just want to enter right here.

Hope your daughter-in-law recovers quickly. I almost missed a marathon that I trained for because of the flu, and it is truly disappointing. Have a great time being grandma.

I hope you have a wonderful time with your grandkids. I don't get to see mine half enough, so I know the time is precious. Best wishes to your daughter in law - I hope she's feeling better very soon. I'm in So Cal in Orange County - maybe you aren't that far away! I hope all goes well. What a good mom/grandma you are!

i too am amazed at how the body can get turned inside out from allergies! i had a student in my first year of teaching that had a severe allergry to peanuts. i scoured (sp?) my room before she joined our class, read ever label three times before i gave it to her, and had my students trained to not bring peanut butter or anything with peanuts. i was always amazed that something i ate every day could kill someone else. hope everything goes smoothly!
