First Blood

First Blood

If you must cut me,
do the job with crystal.
Let ruby gemfire
lick (then burn)
your litany of
leavings
on my palm.

Take
me
down.

Triangulate your
heart into my
upturned hands.

Press firmly.

Draw first blood,
and don’t forget
the roses.

You are such a word artist that sometimes it's above me, I'm afraid. It's a beautiful work nonetheless.

This took my breath away...I could feel the power of the words and I wonder what inspired the poem? Great pic to go with it too. A little different than what I'm used to reading from you! You've got a little bit of steal beneath that sweet Sue face!

I also wonder what inspired this poem. I read it once, and then again with the music. Wow!

I especially like the phrase, 'Triangulate your
heart'
that's so fresh and unexpected. I like the whole thing too...it's a gem!

This is actually quite chilling. I liked the reminder not to forget the roses at the end which seemed to soften it.
