Z is for Zen: A Meditation

©1999 by Susan Noyes Anderson, Awaken Your Spiritual Power, Karisma Press

The sun will rise each day, and night will fall.

We here can only wait, and watch, and see.

It is not ours to tamper with the flow

Of nature, nor mistrust her majesty.

'Twas other hands, not ours, whose heavenly light

Kindled eternal splendor in the skies;

Another whispers peace unto our minds

When darkness looms before our faltering eyes.

And listening, we somehow come to know

That in the midst of darkness, even then,

He sends the moon and stars to light our way,

And promises the sun will rise again.

"Thy sun shall no more go down; neither shall thy moon withdraw itself: for the Lord shall be thine everlasting light, and the days of thy mourning shall be ended." Isaiah 60:20

Beautiful, Sue.
I remember as a little girl being sick in the night and finding comfort in knowing the sun would come up in the morning. So I love the line, "And promises the sun will rise again."

Thanks for that. It's true.

Oh that is beautiful!! I read it three times--and then read it out loud to my husband. We have a good friend going through a very difficult time and I think I will send her a link to your blog as well. What a beautiful thought--and gorgeous pictures.

Sue, I am sitting alone in this incredibly large home of Nancy's and I can understand why she hates living here now, all alone. I don't feel comfortable myself. Nancy and Dick went shopping and Fred and Chris left to go somewhere. It is a strange feeling. This poem, that I love so well, and the accompanying pictures are so calming that as soon as Nancy gets home, I am going to have her come into this office and read this beautiful post.

Her computer is a Mac and I don't feel at all comfortable using it either. Think I'll go read this poem again.
