A Day of Service

I thought you guys might be interested in seeing this video made by one of the young men in my husband's congregation. It chronicles our activities last Saturday and the Mormon Helping Hands service project that church members young and old across California participated in to help their communities. One of our assignments was to clear brush from the area surrounding our local college. I hope you take a look at it. The guy with the funny look on his face is my hubby!

The video wouldn't play smoothly but I did catch most of it...love it when youth comes together to help the community. It's always hard work, but very satisfying. Our Stake did this type of project here in our little town a few years ago for youth conference...so appreciated by the Mayor and the community. (Plus I got a "Mormon Helping Hands" tee shirt..very cool!)

Do you know this Ashley Orton in the video very well? We knew of an Ashley Orton and just trying to figure out if it's the same one. The one we knew was from Cupertino....are you anywhere near there?

Enjoyed seeing the video. Looks like they had a pretty ambitious project. They were handling it well.

We had a very successful one also. This is the first one that Dick hasn't attended forever. He was still pretty weak from being so sick himself with his stomach problem. He was going to go anyway, but I made him stay home and I'm glad I did because they all worked very hard..........they went to several places where the young people go after school ( I can't remember what they are called) but they were replacing floors and doing really heavy work, so it's a good thing he didn't go. It is such a great day though and so very much appreciated by the various places where they worked.
