I keep looking at this picture, which feels like an answer to prayer.
(It's exactly what I wish I could give him.)
It's exactly what the Lord has already given him.
Not just the tree of life, but the Living Water to nourish it.
"...the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water
springing up into everlasting life."
John 4:14
"And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding,
shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus."
Philippians 4:7
Drink deeply, my friend.
I know you do...and will.

This is a beautiful post Sue. Very wise words spoken here. All the best to your friend.
So sorry about your friend. I know how it feels to have a friend who has to keep fighting cancer. I do hope he will win his fight once again. He is fortunate to have such caring friends as you and Dave are.
Whenever I read something like this it makes me count my blessings even more than I do. I'll be thinking about your friend too...please keep us posted.
That was so beautiful...prayers with your friend...
I hope all things go as expected. I love your thoughts. So soothing.
Sue I am really sorry you are going through this with a dear friend but he is blessed to have you in his life.
I hope his surgery goes well and I will add him to my prayers.
I am off now to check on your Mom.
Be safe this holiday weekend
Love ya
Maggie
Sue my heart breaks for your friend and also for you. My Aunt battled cancer 11 months only to lose the battle.
Your words were so fitting.
My hope is your friend wins his battle.
My heart always goes out to our cancer patients when they are in our surgery suite...it's hard on the families and friends and of course it's hard for them. How lucky your friend is to have you and I'm sure many others giving prayers and service.
I've been through this with friends and it's hard. My best wishes and prayers for your friend.
I sent a prayer up for your friend and for you. I know that when a friend goes through a hard time, good friends go through it with them.
Praying with you. Such a lovely man.
What a lovely, heartfelt post for your friend, Sue. I just sent up a prayer for him and his loved ones.
Cancer ravages bodies and families. Faith is sometimes the only thing that can see us through.
Sue, my neighbor (and one of my best friends) who is in her 70's has had cancer now 3 times (once breast, twice stomach). Each time she has any kind of issue and needs to get it checked out, she doesn't want to scare her children, so she confides in me. Her spirit for life inspires me so much and I think that, coupled for her faith in Christ is what has been so healing for her.
I'll be keeping your friend in my thoughts and prayers for sure.
OK, all of that reminds me of a painting my friend did. I love the imagery of the tree and the oil/lamp all in one.

So sorry to hear about your friend. This mortality thing can be hard stuff.
A beautiful post Sue. I hope the surgery went well and your friend is on a road of growth and recovery!
My prayers are with you and your friend. I have been there and no how hard and difficult it can be for everyone--and also how tender and sweetly emotional. I will hope for the best. He is blessed to have you for a friend.
Sue I'm so sorry to hear about your friend.
When I read through your post and looked at the pictures the thought came to my mind that the living water that nourishes is Christ but it is also our friendships and those who serve.
God Bless.
