OOPS. I really AM getting old, because somehow I read Jenny's instructions and thought she said we could add 25 additional words to our usual 100! On second look (and after I had already written this poem), I finally got the message. 30 words only. *sigh*
Be that as it may, we drove all day to get to the beach, and I am way too tired to write another, so please forgive this overlong Centus. I promise to make next week's extra short to redeem myself. (The prompt is in red.)

"I'm not getting any younger,"
said the spider to the fly.
When into my web you blunder,
could you let me know you're nigh?
My eight eyes are growing dimmer,
My eight legs are growing lame.
This arachnid's getting slimmer.
(I'm not saying you're to blame.)
But if you would be my dinner,
it would be so awfully nice.
As a meal you'd be a winner.
You won't have to ask me twice.
I will open wide for you, dear.
I will savor every bite.
It's a lovely thing you do, dear.
Thanks for dropping in. G'night!

This was a fun word and worth every word!
OMGosh, I can't tell you how much this reminds me of some of the stuff my mom used to write! So much fun, so clever, just excellent!

I agree with Jeff! And your song is one of my all-time favorites! Thanks, Sue.
Namaste..........cj
great poem and perfect song! And the last 75 words were the bonus for not getting any younger! ;)
If only spiders really did get less competent as they aged!
awesome poem
I can't believe you wrote anything at all with all you have going on! Have fun with your family and hopefully I'll get to sneak in a visit when you have some down time. (Still want to take you and Dave to dinner!)
You delivered! What's a few extra words among friends?~Ames
LOL :D Could you word the reply of the fly too? Sounds a fun two-piece series atleast :) Loved it!
My Centus ~ Break Free
I cleaned the Church building yesterday and I think I vacuumed a million of those spidey things! Fun poem!
I thought at first Jenny was giving us an extra 25 words, not the reverse. Sue, you are just so clever! I loved this!!
You are so funny! That was cute! But I can think of a MILLION ways to show I'm not getting any younger!!
Hope you had a wonderful time at the beach...how could you NOT, right? I'd like to be there to just sit.....
I wish I had your gift for words. This is wonderful!
Robin
I love it. Thanks for the smile.
haha. great job. and Jenny isn't always so mean. right?
Sue, this was excellent. Glad you didn't realize you were only to use 30 words, or this piece might not have been born. laurie
I think it is perfect and a lovely addition to the original poem. :) You never disappoint, Sue!
how do you just plink this stuff out? So so cute!!
Oh so much FUN! It never ceases to amaze me how clever you are! :)
Thoroughly enjoyed this hearty meal of a poem.
Delightfully funny verse!
La Fontaine would be proud!
Sometimes you just need more words! Yes, I wrote a text with only 25+5 words, but had to write a very long P.S. afterwards!
Kind regards,
Anna

My Centus
I'm glad you didn't see the original word count!
This is perfect...and it might not have happened if you limited yourself!
Lucky us to benefit from no reading glasses!

Thanks for the smile.
