Perspective, Prayer, and Peace

Perspective
©2003 by Susan Noyes Anderson

In life, there is a symmetry––

a balance that bespeaks a plan,

and he who treads a humble path

will find in him a peaceful man.

Look up; the leaves adorn the trees,

then fall to earth beneath your feet.

Look down; each stone could grace a pillar

or be crushed into concrete.

True harmony is always found

within the singing of a song.

The road will show you where it leads,

and if the way is short or long.

Thanks for helping me keep my perspective yesterday with all your good thoughts and wishes. Despite some crazy weather, my son did indeed make it to Washington DC and is interviewing even as we "speak." Today, I feel much more peaceful.

Letting go is always a good thing and, for me, prayer makes that possible. Remembering that I am not in charge, and that I don't need to be, allows me to sing life's song with a lot more joy.

And a lot less jitteriness, too!

=)

PS. Did you know it's national blog delurking day? So delurk, my friends. Chime on in and introduce yourself. (You're already welcome, you know.)

I think that has been one of my hardest jobs ever as a Mom...letting go and realizing I don't have to take care of everything. Missions helped me with that somewhat, but then when they returned so did the worry.

Happy you are well. I hope you continue to feel that peace.

What a beautiful post sweet Sue. I am so glad that you are more peaceful today. When it comes to our children, do we ever get to a place where we don't worry in some cases? I am so glad your son made it to the interview and I just know all is going to be fine. Hugs

Oh I'm so glad he made it! Loved the words and the pictures.
Really? There is such a thing as National Blog De-Lurking Day? You wouldn't mess with an old, feeble minded woman's mind--would you????

Awesome! DC is a very fun place! That's where my husband and I met and married!

That whole 'fostering independence' is my hardest thing as a mom- I'm just not ready for Em not to want/need my help any more, unfortunately she is.

I wonder if I will ever get to a place where I don't have to worry about my children. It seems like there are special worries I have for each child. I guess that is normal. Maybe worry is not the word I should use....more like concerned, I am concerned about each of my children. Things just keep happening to them, good and bad things.

Love the poem and pictures. They are both calming and I need that.

Just beautiful. I think that is why I love taking my dog outside for awhile every day. I feel true peace on my walks enjoying the sun and nature.
I'm so glad your boy made it safe and sound and that all went well.
I hope I get some delurkers on my blog today too!

I don't know What's going on with my comments lately. I make one and then it's not there. I thought of Todd often yesterday and I'm glad to hear all is well. I'm sure the interview will be wonderful - he's proven to be graceful under pressure already. Let me know how it goes!

The poem, pictures, and music are so beautiful and peaceful! I love Paul Cardall and that's one of my fave Primary songs! I'm glad your son made it OK and that you've found your "happy place" in your mind! I find I go to my "happy place" more and more each day! Best of luck to him and I'll be excited to hear how it goes!

But aren't we supposed to take care of everything?
That's the hardest part of kids leaving the nest--relinquishing control.
Still haven't done it.
Good luck to your almost MD

I am glad he made it safely!! Oh my it is so nervewracking when our children do big things! It is almost like we are doing them.
I know he will do well. I can't wait to hear the results.

Oh, letting go is so hard sometimes. But things always work out better if we do. I loved your pictures and sayings, perfect.

Been thinking of you and your son. Hope everything went well. Love you!

I hope everything went well. If he is anything like his mother (and I would imagine he would have to be in some ways) then he deserves all the best in this life. If it's meant to be in DC, it will work out. You are right about that!

I wish your son luck in his interview. I hope all went well.

I am so glad I am not yet to the point of having to let go a little yet. I cannot imagine!
