Words Fail Me

I'm late for Saturday Centus again, but I have a very good excuse, so I hope you'll forgive me. Our friend Jenny gave us 50 extra words to go with the prompt this week, and I have happily used all but one of them. The prompt, as always, is in red.

Words Fail Me

You are my sunshine in the morning
and my northern star at night.
You’re the clouds that give me warning
when the storm is out of sight.
You are water when my well runs dry,
a breath of clean, fresh air.
You’re the castle in my star-crossed sky,
a blessing and a prayer.
If an ill wind blows my boat too far,
I set my sails for you.
In the dawn of each new day, you are
the sweet, distilling dew.
Every load I bear is lighter
as you lend your strength to mine.
Every song I sing is brighter
when our voices intertwine.
Your music lifts me, fills me up.
My heart stands all amazed.
I honor you; I raise my cup;
I drink you in, quite dazed.
You are my one and only love,
Prince Charming plus; it’s true...
The King of All Clichés, because
I can’t find words for you.

Sue, I am certainly glad you misinterpreted the number of words you could use. Your poem is stunning.

This is incredible. You take some words and make this beautiful sentiment that just flows so smoothly. If someone had said "You are my sunshine" to me the only thing that would have happened is that the song would get stuck in my head. Oh, darn...there it goes!

Whoever is on the receiving end of this is very fortunate. I loved it.

You are amazing, Sue. As I have so often said (to your dislike, I'm sure) your talent is behond my comprehension. I have a small talent, but you have gone so far behond my insignificant capability that I am often stunned, as I was after reading this poem. Sorry, my dear, but I just couldn't help but rave about your talent once again.

P.S. Just had to let you know that I honestly do know how to spell "beyond" My fingers tend to fly when I type and I should always edit, but darn, that is such a pain. Excuse please.

That poem sounds like the story of a really great marriage!

I think you got a bit confused because I think we were supposed to use 54 words. I loved what you did though - really lovely.

I found it quite disconcerting with the music though. Took me a while to work out where it was coming form!

Wow! You must be so proud! Congratulations!

What a wonderful way to say "I love you!"

I need this poem on a greeting card, so when I can't find the words to tell my husband what he means to me, I can just give him the card! :)

I love this, Sue. Magnificent. :)

Dear Sue,
First. Thank you for visiting my SC-post! I'm glad you like Sanna, because I am thinking of writing more about her.

Lovely poem! I am happy that you misread the instructions about the number of words! I am wondering if your poem could be set to music. It is almost like a devotional or hymn; a hymn of praise.

I really like the title, "Words Fail Me", which probably more often applies to me than to you!

Best wishes & hugs,
Anna
