Arise and Umbrellize

Finland, photo by George F. Mobley

Umbrellas offer solid proof
that weather's not in vain.
Surely a drop of rain deserves
a bit of notice.

What shoddy arrogance denies
the weeping skies in
heads left bare and
hats left home?

Don't float the notion soggy hair
is any less than an affront.
A front deserves respect.
This rain works hard for you.

Don't dis the dew.

Arise and umbrellize!

Having a hard time leaving a comment on your new site, but I love it! I love how you kept some of the old graphics and colors but updated it. Looks great, my friend. Congrats, you just gave birth to a new wesite!

Great photo, Degas could have done a painting like this, it reminds me of him and his paintings of people in parks, often with umbrellas. I like your poem too.

I don't usually like music or sound accompaniments...but when I heard the rain...yes.

I wish the rain would work a little harder around here. But when it comes do we ever love it!

"Arise and umbrellize!" What a delicious bit! I love how the dew is looking for its due. ;-)

I'm afraid there's a lot of soggy arrogance here in the Northwest. The rain may fall softly most of the time, but it's still wet. I've come to appreciate hoods, as well as umbrellas!
