Why Oh Why Oh

At first I asked myself why oh why Ms. Matlock had to give us the words why oh why oh why for a prompt, but I've since come to grips with it. Below you will find 100 words plus the prompt (in red, as always).

Why Oh Why Oh
(Me Oh My Oh)

Why oh why oh why oh why
must age make bodies go awry?

Me oh my oh me oh my.
The cure’s extreme: Ya gotta die.

Don’t wanna go there; so I’ll vent.
These are the things I most lament:

My waist is thick; my hair is thin.
The desert’s moister than my skin.
My eyelids droop; my lips are gone.
My wrinkles wrinkle on and on.
My joints get sore; my muscles ache.
Too many pills I have to take.
My memory is fading fast,
forgetting things from first to last.

Why must this body go amiss?
(Wait! Didn’t I just ask you this??)

∞§∞

I still have a full deck; I just shuffle a little slower now.
(And sometimes, I drop the cards.)

By the time you're my age, you've learned everything.
You just can't remember it!

;)

My oh my..you must have been following me around and hanging around my bathroom mirror too. Thanks for writing a poem that's just about me...unfortunately I won't remember it by tomorrow...sigh

You definitely have a full deck. No one could write like you if they didn't.

I can relate very well to this post. Much more than I would like. Especially the disappearing lips. I'm really noticing that about myself lately. :(

Why oh why oh why do I have to relate to this poem so much! Good work, Sue! Made me laugh out loud - misery just LOVES company!

Hahaha! And typically, I forgot to say the one thing I wanted to. I heard a funny saying the other day that applies: We'll be friends until we're old and senile. Then we'll be new friends!
Seems I'm on my way that direction...

Oh you are such a good poet, and writer, it just makes me happy to visit! I was a bit oddly silly with mine, and had to be too because today I've been married 27 years to hubby #2....so yeah, funny and happy is so welcomed today!

Hhhheee heehee! I love this - if we can't make fun of these aging bodies - and share the sympathy all around - what else would we do . . . just die . . .

Loves!!

Well done! Yes, MY body has gone awry, and you described my view in the mirror perfectly. Gave me some smiles (which gives me a few more wrinkles, but worth it). laurie @ http://dealingwithmyinnercritic.blogspot.com/
