On Weathering the Weather

On Weathering the Weather
© 2011 Susan Noyes Anderson

I feel a bit like this today.
Beset by rain, I guess you'd say.
It's not enough to wash me out
but just enough to make me pout
and fail to see the clear, blue sky
that waits for a more willing eye.

We choose our weather, in a way,
(the kind we walk through every day).
Sunny, cloudy...flood or drought,
our temperature is all about
our view of life as we pass by.
The choice is ours to smile or sigh.

Come rain or shine, it's up to me.
My outlook shapes my destiny.

So true, and I agree with Brian - a great verse for children. You have so many like that - ever thought of doing your version of "A Child's Garden of Verses"? Think about it...

You're probably right....but I certainly had a better winter in the sun then I did in the rain this year!
I "grow" in the sun. :)

Is it still true when it's the middle of May and you should be outside, and instead the blasted weather men are predicting snow, again? I just can't make myself be excited bout the rain, again- I guess I should never live in Seattle huh?

That poem is great for a rainy day. I love it. The weather is crazy all over the world. Ours is really weird, when you don't have to even have the air conditioning on in the middle of May. Can you beleive it? Just because you will be here next week, you gotta know that the temperature will surely fly up. I hope it doesn't go too far as I know how you hate the hot hot weather. We will definitely try to keep you comfortable, Sue, even if I have to freeze in the process. I figure I can always add enough clothes to keep me from getting too cold.

This was very good, and oh so true. I've tried to use the last line lately as a morning prayer to myself, I've noticed I see things more positively.

We are children of Mother Earth--we all face different seasons and weather on our journey. It makes the trip so very interesting.

I love storms. But really, in moderation. I need the sun.

This was lovely. I agree with Brian, it would be a lovely children's book.
