Here's my question! Is everybody using the new post editor on Blogger? (I know you are, Jen...What d'ya think, overall?) Has anyone else tried it and liked or disliked it? Are there bugs that I might want to avoid by waiting a few months until they've got them resolved?
I just read about this new Blogger feature under "settings," and it sounds pretty great. For example, instead of uploading all of your pictures up at the top of the post, to be moved laboriously down later in your process, multiple images can be loaded as thumbnails that you can insert later by clicking on them at the exact point in your text where you want them placed. That sounds like heaven...especially for my long poems or travelogues. Sometimes it takes forever to load and distribute those pictures!
There are other perks as well, but the aforementioned one is the best of the best, as far as I'm concerned.
I'm always slow to make these changes, due to my deep-seated fear of having something get messed up on my blog and then never being able to fix it because there's no "real person" to get in touch with at Blogger. Ergo, no sense that you can count on getting a glitch fixed.
What say you? Have you heard anything about the new post editor? Are you already using and hopefully lovin' this little goodie?
Do tell!
=)

Uh, I'm so out of the loop, I had no idea about it. Off to check it out.
I've been using a newer version of the editor, as previously mentioned by my dear friend Sue. One day last week something went berzerk-O and I was helpless to fix it. Whatever that glitch was, it has since disappeared. So my complaints, although warranted at the time, have since evaporated.
Verbosity aside, I really like the sizes available. You can make the pictures pretty big. My only complaint is that I have a hard time manipulating them around once they're in the text. I'm sure I just need to take a little time to learn the new system.
Like I have that time when I've discovered all these new blogs to read?
I hope you're feeling better and all the troubles are "passed."
heehee.
I don't love it or hate it. I do find the picture loading somewhat annoying. With the old Blogger I could continue to write while photos were downloading. With the new version, you have to sit idly by while it does its stuff. Or I haven't figured it out yet.
At first, I hated it. It took me a little while to get the hang of it but I really do love the new photo feature now. I just load them all up and click on the post where I want a picture to be then put a photo there.
It's SO nice!!! Saves me tons of time!
I've been using the new post editor for some time now (months I guess) and love it. I love how it allows extra large pictures, so that is usually what I go for. I also like how it has a strike through feature. And different fonts to choose from, although to me they all look pretty much the same. Posting has become so much easier with it. Although I have to say, I don't understand what you mean about the thumbnail pictures and how you can download them all at once? I don't get that.
I have tried to use it before but have given up. How do you load the pictures in and then write around the pictures? That part always messed me up. I think I had trouble moving them around. I might have to get brave and check it out again.
I tried it several months ago and hated that it had no spell check - it was supposed to check it automatically but did not. I recently tried it again on a post with lots of pictures and like it but my post doesn't look like I write it and sometimes the pictures go side my side on my blog and you cannot see half of one picture (see Jens blog today).
But I figure the pictures will still be easier to post and will learn while I blog.
Hope everything comes out ok....Pun intended ;)
Hello my name is Jess and I'm technologically impaired. I'll have to take your advice and try it out. I too am afraid of messing something up- computer wide though. I never know what kind of a problem I can create out of thin air.
Sue thanks for this post and catching me up I am afraid I did not know anything about it but sounds great especially for ones that use a lot of pictures. I don't because of all the darn bytes that I have to watch on Verizon...hate it.
Wanted to stop by and catch up with you and to thank you for all the sweet comments about my accident.
Left the Dr..disappointed since I have another week off from being released. Not good with the Sheriffs dept and I guess the grass will just have to grow here..lol
Foolish that I fell like I did so mad at myself but whats done is done.
Loved catching up on your post sorry about your weekend....with the stones...ouch
Love
Maggie
I use it and like it.
It's all Greek to me, but good luck on what you finally decide to do. I think it is amazing that you know so much about computers right now. Of course there is always more to learn and as you say, always new things that are coming our way, but I am sure you will master this one too and it sounds like it would save you lots of time.
I guess I've been using it without knowing for several months. I just thought it was a new version of blogger that upgraded by itself.
I used to hate loading all my pictures in from back to front and then writing all around them. I think the picture loader is much better. I still load one at a time, but can delete and then reenter it later if I want.
Sue, I think I've been using it for awhile because the New Blogger you are describing sounds like the way I do it (upload images etc). If so (It seems like I switched about 2-3 months ago?) I love it. If there is a newer version than what I'm using, I'd love to check it out. I will have to investigate!
I decided not to switch. I have not problems with the old editor so I just figure "Why mess with a good thing".
Then again I am just lazy :D
i thought about it for a minute, tested it, but was too scared i'd miss the old to click the apply button.
For about a month now, I have been using draft.blogger.com. It is awesome! It has all of the gadgets that you could want! Anything they are experimenting with and all the extra stuff you wish they had on there.
For example, I created my blog, my template, and just added a background that suited me better, but they have plenty to choose from.
Also, I found out yesterday, there is a way to "caption" your photos. It is awesome! You can click on the picture and right by the small-medium-large, there is an "add caption" that inserts it along with the photo.
It also has a spell check. The older editor has it, but the newer one didn't. So I started using the checker a lot.
You can also add a location to you post and it shows in the post footer.
There is also a way to add 5 star ratings to your blog. Instead of only comments or reactions, they can rate the post (also in the post footer).
Like I was saying earlier, there is a "designer template" and soooooo much more.
Oh gosh, I would be here all day if I tried to remember all that they did in it. I thought about doing a post on it, so maybe I will do that and show you how easy it is to do these things. Or just ask me. One of my blogger friends wants me to show her the new tricks I have learned also. I am totally willing to share!
P.S. I have never added all of my photos and manuvered them around. I just add them to the upload area after selecting the spot, the click ok. Then when I am ready for another, I just "add picture" and do it click on the one already uploaded... and on and on and on. So much easier!
Hope this post was any help. And thank you for your post on my blog about sharing some of your poem and the link. I love sharing peoples art and giving them credit for it... I definitely couldn't do that!

I decided to do a blog post, I guess it is like a series. I will be posting new things I have found on blogger. My first one (link above) is on creating a blogger template using their draft website. I don't know if it any use to you, but there is more to come. I have also added a tab called blogger secrets, where I will be adding stuff to look into.
Hope you like!
