Escape Clause

The Promenade, 1918, Marc Chagall

©2013 Susan Noyes Anderson

Hold me down when I feel flighty.
Lift me up when I'm earthbound.
When in doubt, just take a chance and
swing this partner round and round.

Try your best to make me happy.
Do your worst to make me sad.
Either way, don't bore me silly.
Make me feel things, good and bad.

Stir the pot or smooth things over.
Be the charmer and the chump.
Careful, though, don't lose your balance,
or you'll find out I can jump.

I like the picture, prose and music. This was fun, Sue. Makes me want to dance.

This to me sounds like a girl in a boring relationship. She wants her friend or spouse or whoever it is to do something about it, anything. Then she says at the end, "Careful, though, don't lose your balance or you'll find out I can jump." She's warning him to be true to her, not to go overboard because she wouldn't want that either. She just wants this person to wake up!

So cute, and funny too. This was another great photo to bring out so many twists, in one flying girl's life! Just shows some women just can't be still, right!

I know I need someone to hold me down sometimes when I feel flighty, and my husband does a pretty good job of bringing me back down to earth! Your pix illustrates that well!

Balance in a relationship is always nice! Much nicer than having to take that jump!

Sue like all your other friends on here I really enjoyed this poem.
Makes one think about the balancing act we have in our lives every day.
Thank you for your kind words today about my little Billie Sue. I have other friends making me feel guilty about spending an arm and leg on her but your right I did the right thing.
Have a wonderful weekend.
Love
Maggie
