My Gardener

My favorite day is Monday.
That’s the day the gardener comes.

I love to watch him pull the weeds
and plant chrysanthemums.

Sometimes he cuts back our front hedge
or prunes my climbing tree.

I watch him out the window,
and he turns and waves at me.

He doesn’t use a broom to sweep.
He uses a machine.

Just like a white tornado,
it blows all our sidewalks clean.

He waves again before he leaves
and hums a happy hum.

(But I wish he’d take his gloves off once
and show me his green thumb!)

This GREAT, Sue and what a neat tribute to your gardener. As a former gardener myself (I worked in some nurseries and public gardens when I was younger) I can tell you he'd appreciate this! :)

Nice. I've never cared much for the gardener's green thumb, but always wished I had one of my own. Alas, definitely NOT one of my talents! Good thing I live in a place that things grow beautifully (and wildly) on their own. ;)

My mom used to have a fantastic gardener - we learned all kinds of great gardening tricks and tips from him. I do love someone who can take such good care of my trees and plants and teach me a thing or two along the way!

Love this poem. I remember when you wrote it. We have a great gardener (you may have noticed) It's a good thing because neither one of us likes to garden.

At first I thought you were talking about your husband and I thought wow he looks different in each picture....ha ha.
Wouldn't it be great to have a gardener...sigh....

Lovely poem and love the green thumb pic too :o) haha can you imagine what a little one thinks of when they hear that someone has a "green thumb"? That photo would be what one would possibly think of.

Blessings & Aloha!

I love this!! I had a Grandma Green and she could make things grow, so we have a double green in our thumbs!!
Have a great day! It's a work at home day here...except for those errands that always take longer than I want.
