Life is Good

After spending three nights with my mom and stepdad in Palm Desert, I headed south yesterday to spend a little more time with Matt, Heather, and my grandkids. Tomorrow morning, we'll climb back in the car and return to the desert, where three of my siblings will already have arrived. There, we will meet my brother's fiancee, laugh and talk until the wee hours of the morning, and generally enjoy each other's company. We will also eat all of the dangerously delicious food my mom has been cooking for the past week or so. (I've already had a preview of that coming attraction while I was there...) Her world-class baking wreaks havoc on my blood sugar, but what a way to go!

Last night, we stayed up with Todd and heard about his interview. He feels like it went well, and we thank all of you for your thoughts, prayers, and good wishes. Now we are just hoping that he was able to distinguish himself in some way from all of the other highly qualified candidates. What a blessing that would be! At any rate, he won't know anything for a month or more...

I feel sorry for Dave, who's missing all the fun while he slaves away back in Northern California. He is consistently generous in wanting me to have a good time (even when he has to work). Being home alone is not his favorite thing, but he has selflessly encouraged me to take a few more days next week with my sister in Ventura County. What a guy!

Life is good.

=)

Oh, what fun you are having sweet Sue. How sweet of Dave to tell you to take more days to enjoy family. Thanks for the update on Todd and I will be anxious to hear how it all went with the interview when he knows. Keep enjoying family and all that good food. Give your sweet mom a hug for me. Hugs

Have fun in Ventura! I can think of a bunch of songs about Ventura...
You may have to wrangle some of those recipes from your Mom to share with us. I like world class sweets!
I hope you have a great time and that we hear about Todd's success soon!

What a long month of waiting that will be. I will continue to pray for Todd.

(Men don't do well alone but it just makes them appreciate us all that much more when we return, right?)

That Dave - he's the best! I'm so glad things went well for Todd and that you're having such a good time. Do you think you could talk your mom into sending her baking out to some of us?

Yes, and you were supposed to have called me as soon as you heard about how Todd did interviewing. I didn't have one single minute to look on the computer either yesterday or today. But I am glad to know that he thinks he did well.

We went to Ontario to pick up Jayne and we are now awaiting Rich and Stacy's arrival.

I am worried about Nikki driving tomorrow because we did hit quite a lot of rain, and I'm sure she will get have to drive through it. She needs your prayers.

See you manana............

Sue, my mom and dad are the same way. He doesn't like to be at home alone, but always wants her to enjoy herself too. I think it's a sign you're a good wife when your husband doesn't want to be alone! :)
p.s. glad to hear your son's interview went well. I wish all the very best for him!

Spending time with family is always a gift. What fun you must have had! I am so glad your son did so well. And I hope he was able to stand out so that he can be chosen to go there. That would be nice. Dave is certainly wonderful to let you be gone that long. I love it when husbands are so selfless and wonderful. Enjoy your stay.
