Wonderful Women

My cute mom with one of my sisters

When it comes right down to it, a lot of us would say our moms are pretty great. Mine, however, is in a class by herself. (I may be a bit prejudiced on this point.) Tomorrow she will be 88 years old, and my siblings (including the one pictured above) and I will be spending the weekend with her to celebrate. Needless to say, we are all looking forward to the occasion!

As you can see, Mom looks terrific. I wish she felt equally terrific physically, but as you can see, she chooses to go through life with a smile on her face….enjoying her family and friends and living in the moment. She has had a year of great struggles and great blessings, but I'm sure she would say the blessings have won the battle for her heart. You see, in the past year she has become the proud great grandmother of three sets of twins. That's right, THREE sets! Can you imagine?? I don't think she ever did, not in her wildest dreams, but that doesn't stop her from being the proudest "GG" ever…and certainly the best!

The darling two-month-old twins contributed by my daughter are pictured below:

 Melina

Alcide

I'd show you the other two sets of twins as well, but their grandma (another of my sisters) doesn't like having family photos on the internet, so you will just have to imagine how cute they are (two boys, and a boy and a girl). Our family has been richly blessed this year.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MOM.
Sure do love you.

A very Happy Birthday to your mother, Sue! What a beautiful smile she has! Our mothers are the same age, and like yours, my mother faces her challenges with a smile. Those twins are gorgeous!

Happy birthday to your beautiful mother! I had a mother very much like her! Always smiling, no matter the pain! You know my profile picture on blogger at the bottom of my page is a phamily photo of mom with some of her siblings. She lost her dad and older brother Tony in a mining accident when she was only 13. I study their faces each time I look at that photo. so much sadness and hardship and you would never know it! As for twins, they are everywhere! My cousins on dad's side were twins and my brother and his wife lost a set of twins many years ago. That old wives tale that twins skip a generation is baloney! LOL! Our middle daughter dates a twin! Ooohhh...look out! Beautiful phamily Sue and beautiful mother that you still can enjoy! Hug her for me please!

Wow, what a great post. I got to see your Mom and the twins! Amazing about the 3 sets of twins! (and it sounds like your sister got 2 sets as grandchildren!)

I hope you will do a post about the birthday weekend with your Mom. She is so wonderful and I miss her blog, although I totally understand why that became too much for her. I hope she is feeling well on her birthday and gets to enjoy it to the fullest!

Happy Birthday Darlene! She looks great. Congrats on all the new additions to the family. You are truly blessed! Please say Hi to your Mom from me and tell her I think of her often. My Mom will be 89 next month and she looks good too but struggles with hearing and eyesight problems. Enjoy your visit! P.S...we have a missionary from Ashland that's serving in the Desert Palm area. Isn't that where your Mom lives? The missionary is Sis. Sommers.

Happy Birthday to a wonderful mom. I know how well one daughter turned out.

Beautiful babies. Two at a time is quite a job but will have twice the rewards.
