It's Christmas week, which means this will be a Christmas-posts-only week at Sue's News, Views 'n Muse, too. (All Christmas, all the time...and happy to do it! In RED print, yet!!)
I'm still bosom buddies with my crummy Christmas cold, but that's not stopping me from feeling the spirit of the season. In fact, I think it's helped me along a bit. I've been given lots of quiet time to reflect on the birth of our Savior, and it has been good.
A Perfect Brightness of Hope
©1998 Susan Noyes Anderson
How bright the sky, how still the night
when all the world received His light.
One star stood out from all the rest,
while choirs of angels sang and blessed
a lowly stable, bleak and bare...
and Mary’s Babe who nestled there.
The King of Kings was humbly born
to save us all that Christmas morn.

How bright our lives; how still our hearts
when we receive what He imparts
and share it in our common quest
to walk with angels and be blessed.
May every home, replete or bare,
be strengthened by His presence there.
And may our souls embrace His birth
and count Him King of heaven and earth!
Merry Christmas to all of you...

I never tire of this story - the most beautiful in history :-D
The line:
"How bright our lives; how still our hearts when we receive what He imparts" - I love this and I only wish that everyone on the earth could feel and know it's truth on Christmas day.
What a beautiful post.
This just made my heart smile.
I'm looking forward to your Christmas week. I have the same crummy cold but like you, am pressing on. Hope we both get better.
To me this line says it all:
"How bright our lives; how still our hearts
when we receive what He imparts"
Thank you Sue.
May He continue to impart the gift of verse to you!
Merry Christmas Sue!
I feel better tonight just reading your poem and seeing the beautiful pictures. Thanks, Sue. I hope your cold finally decides to give you a break!
get well, my friend.
Love Christmas week - and you started it off just right! I hope your cold gets better soon - LaMar has been down too. So far I've stayed healthy - fingers crossed!
'Tho we've never met, I'm beginning to understand that making the best of the cold to give you time to reflect is typical of you - I love it!
I hope your cold doesn't hang around too long though.
It is the best story. Ever.
So beautiful.
It made my day. Thank you so much for sharing.
Hope you have a wonderful week!
So beautiful, Sue...and I love the images you chose!
