Round Two: Puttin' Up My Dukes

In a couple of hours, I'll be out the door...raring to go...chafing at the bit to experience numero dos on my list of fabulous events I look forward to in January of each year. Namely, the physical exam. What could be more fun than undergoing the quizzings and quippings, weighings and warnings, pesterings and probings of a physician who can only be annoyed to find that you haven't improved your health one iota in the past year? (And it's even more fun if you have actually managed to worsen it.)

*sigh*

Ah, well. I'm ready to take my medicine, I guess. Literally and figuratively. I'm even willing to make some necessary changes, because I don't feel as well as I'd like to. But boy, oh boy, do I hate giving myself into the hands of the medical professionals. Having been burned more than once, trusting their "esteemed" counsel does not come easily. Since I don't seem to be taking my own, however, I'm bringing in the big guns to spur me on my way.

Wish me luck! I'm looking to reverse the trend and get healthier this year, and I'm pulling out all the stops to get 'er done.

Yes, I may even do yoga.

But probably not this pose.

;)

Wouldn't it be amazing to have that kind of flexibility? One would have to feel pretty good to do that pose in the first place. Best of luck on the up coming changes physically and mentally. A change of health changes how we think and feel.

Ah, come on! You can do that pose! :)

I don't think real people can do that pose.
Good luck with the doctor. It is never a fun thing to go, and pay someone to criticize you, but for some reason (maybe the risk of cancer?) we keep going and paying.

I wish you the best!

Be Well!!!! Love you!

I think your bones have to be made of something else otherworldly to be able to do that pose! Yikes!

You are all things good and brave to do this every January. I am a coward and just keep putting off the inevitable. Good luck!

Well I'd like to say I hope your Dr can help you feel better, but I don't have a lot of faith in that. Sorry. But I do think you should read the book we just finished, "Healthy at 100." It gives lots and lots of ideas on how to feel better as we are aging. Even my husband read it and he says he feels much more optimistic about his health.

Good luck, maybe someday you can do that pose...

The woman in that pose? Definitely an alien. Wishing you an easy, un-eventful physical.

You'll have to keep us abreast (pun totally intended) of your progress this year! Good luck in the torture chamber, I mean Dr.'s office.

Ha my sister has been doing the yoga thing for a long time. The chill music is cool, but I am not a rubber band. Good luck on the checkup!

Well, I just got back from the doctor myself. I just hate to go too. I think I'm going to live.

Let's hope that this new year we can all get more healthy. That certainly is my goal.

I don't think I'll be doing any exercises for awhile. At least not until it's warm enough that I can heat the pool and not get chilled by the outside temperature when I get out. I also think that eating right is the whole key.

It's the pap smear that's the worst, I say!

I hate going to the docs myself..I work with them all day and then to visit their office, strip down to my goosebumps, spread 'em, and then have him ask, while doing the dirty deed, if I'm working in his room the next day...well, I just say to him "I don't know you, you don't know me..just do the exam and I'll be on my way"...about that last pose..smoke and mirrors, that's all it is. Only Gumby should be able to bend like that!

Hope you got a good report. Wishing you all the luck on the health changes and Yoga. I don't think there has ever been a time in my life I could do that last pose. :) Hugs

Here's to better health this year. I don't like to go to the regular doctor, but I don't mind my Crazy Doc. She gives me good advice that actually works for me and I get to hear her say crazy stuff about other things. Everyone should have a Crazy Doc.
You really should do the yoga. You will not mind - and possible even come to enjoy - the DVD I sent you. Just start slowly and BREATHE. But Gumby poses? Not necessary my friend. I am determined to feel better this year too!

I'm putting mine off until I run out of my last 3 month supply of some life-saving medication. I don't like my doc and need to find someone new. Gah!

Good luck to you!! That was my goal for the year as well, and I have actually been working at it--for two whole weeks now. :-). And I have been going to yoga for a few months which I hated at first (except that it did make me feel better) but now I am loving it!

I hope all went well at the doctors!

Sue, I'm only 34 and I'm already seeing the slippery slope of how things go downhill from here. :))
p.s Is that yoga pose even possible? Really?
