On Wishes, Sorrows, and Tomorrows

©2011 Susan Noyes Anderson - poem only

I'd like to be a giving tree,
then I would shed for you
enough of leaves to keep you warm
and dry the winter through.

I'd like to be a shining sun,
a burst of stars at night...
to light the sky when darkness looms
and keep your spirits bright.

I'd like to be a friendly fire
to guard you when you're still...
to glow when you are weary, and
to keep away the chill.

I'd like to be a sparkling stream,
where you could wash away
the struggles of tomorrow
and the pains of yesterday.

Alas, I can be none of these
but I am yet your friend,
and I will hold you in my heart
until our journeys end.

Today is a foggy day in Northern California, the funeral of our dear friends' son. I hope the afternoon sun will come out and shine on us...and them. But if not, all is well. We will remember where the real Light comes from, and be comforted.

I love this Sue. Reminds me of that song, Oh If I Were An Angel. I hate to sound like a broken record, but I love the pictures you use. I really like that last one. So cute.

All of those things are good, and useful and nice, but none compare to a good friend.

I'm sorry that your Monday is dreary and so sad. I hope the rest of the week goes better and sunshine will once again be there for you. Your poem is beautiful and the pics you chose were perfect.

Sue, Linda is so blessed to have you for a friend. I am certain that you have helped her so much through this terrible trial that she is having to undergo at this time. My heart goes out to her. I just can't imagine how it would be to lose a child at any age, but after having him for 40 years in her life just seems like it would be so much harder. I pray that I will never find out what it is to lose a child. Parents are meant to go first.

It makes me feel even more how blessed I am to have such lovely, loving children. Thank you dear for your love and your life. Your life is indeed my song.

How lucky your friend is to have you in her life! I hope she is able to look to the true Light and have hope and peace in her heart. During trials we are especially blessed by our friends' comfort and love.

That is so beautiful. I am sure it gives them much comfort, to have a friend as loving and caring as you. You are wonderful and have such a gift.
