4th of July or Bust!

Welcome to the 4th of July mecca of our singles ward...

otherwise known as party-time central.

This lovely home has been open to the young adults in our area

on every single 4th of July for several eons of time...

as well as twice a month for Sunday dinners,

with special firesides as needed. (Yep, the owners rock!)

Vollebyall in the front yard is a favorite activity

for guys and gals alike...

often followed by a walk around the grounds

to see what's happening in the back yard...

where tennis is the flavor of the day,

and tree houses are always under construction.

(Hula Hoops, anyone?)

Of course, there has to be lots of good company...

lots and lots of it...

(and we do mean LOTS)...

with plenty of good friends...

and enough burgers, hot dogs, and chocolate chippers to satisfy.

The gang does seem to be havin' a grand old time....

Especially these two.

And these.

To say nothing of these.

Looks like smiles all around!

I'm willing to bet that this pair...

and this pair...

and (why not?) this pair had fun, too. Lotsa cool people to meet!

See the couple on the left? 1st counselor and his cute wife.

And these are the cooks, of course. (Hi, Bishop.)

Anybody ready for a dip?

In the pool, that is.

Or maybe you'd rather observe from the safety of a deck chair.

Or even farther away than that...

You see, that rascally, red-shirted Bishop appears to be

inciting his crew to sign on for the traditional 4th of July pool game:

Watermelon Polo, to be exact. AKA death by dunking.

Take your places, boys and girls!

Here's goes the watermelon...

(KERPLUNK) Now, dive, dive, dive....

and push, push, push....

and shove, shove, shove...

Oh, yeah. These 4th of July watermelon polo players play to win!

So do we, but all good things must come to an end. Time to go...

See ya next year!

=D

Wowie! I can't imagine waking up every morning to a house like that! Love the park like atmosphere and all that greenery. Lots of bodies in that pool!

Reading this and seeing all these great pictures just really made me think about those who are so willing to share what they have with others. Sometimes people have really nice homes, but they want to just keep them like a museum.

Boy! Does that ever sound like fun. What a neat place to have a party. These kids are so lucky to have such a great bishopric, who really plan great parties, because after all, that is what kids love and getting together so often really makes for a great singles ward. I wish ours were bigger. I just don't think they get together for fun that often. No wonder it takes such a lot of time for the bishopric and their wives. It is wonderful though, that they get so much support. If only Dave were retired. I still don't see how he can make time for all these activities though. What dedication!!

Now Sue you know how to celebrate the 4th. Love this home and all these pictures of everyone having a great time.
I have to reread it to see if it is your home. I missed that part.
Just beautiful

What a great house and property! And how nice of them to open it up to your bunch every year. We used to have a house like that in our ward, but the owners moved to Scottsdale! It sure was nice while it lasted though. Lots and lots of great ward parties were held there. Hope you've recovered from all the partying!

I only wish it WERE my home, Maggie. The place actually belongs to a wonderful couple from our church. And they are unfailingly generous in letting others use it.

This is so odd. 9 comments that used to be here are missing now (they just sort of vanished), while the three newest ones that didn't used to be here have suddenly appeared out of nowhere. How crazy is that?

What is going on with Blogger today?!

How fun! The house is gorgeous. It looks like a CA version of something from a Jane Austen movie.
