On Worship and Worshipping

Step by step, we come to Thee;
Thy light is a beacon for all to see.

With Easter just around the corner, the W word that's on my mind for this Alphabe-Thursday is worship. I am grateful for the freedom to worship as I please, according to the dictates of my own conscience. It is easy to take this freedom for granted, and I pray that the citizens of my beloved country will always hold it dear.

Declaration of Independence
“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal;
that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights;
that among these are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.”

United States Constitution
“Congress shall make no law respecting an establish
ment of religion,
or prohibiting the free exercise thereof.”

that man’s relation with his God is above human legislation,
and his rights of conscience inalienable. . .

Amen. We live in such an amazing country. Our freedom to worship is paramount to our nation's success as a country, I believe.

Interesting word choice! Can I just say how much I love the Declaration of Independence?! I find it almost lyrical. Is that weird. Anyways, I enjoyed this post and your reminder--thanx for sharing.

I love that picture! And yes, we certainly should all be grateful we live in this country. I just pray that no forces of evil will ever gain the power to do away with our freedoms. We must never take freedom for granted. I pray that this will always be the land of the free and the home of the brave.

yes, i hope that we do hold that dear as many do not have it...and if we could remember that when we get all high and mighty on our religous soap boxes and put down other religeons it would probably be a great thing...

We so do take worshiping for granted. I know I do. I've never known anything different. I hope it stays that way but this world is getting mighty scary.

Freedom is a large word, maybe you can say what you want without landing in prison, but you can't do what you want there are always rules. Try to cross the city at 100 mph ! or smoke in a restaurant, or let your dog run free ! In some dry States you are not even allowed to drink a glass of wine in your own yard.

Sue, it is so sad that some people dwell only on the part of the Constitution relating to the "right to bear arms" and disregard the rest.
