When life is less than kind to me,
I climb right up my family tree.
Stout branches turn to arms of grace
and lift me to a lofty place.
As brightness shines through every leaf,
my sunlit soul finds sweet relief.
Their foliage enfolds my heart
and shelters every sacred part.
Embraced, protected, raised by love,
I like the view from up above.
And oh, how clearly I can see,
high in the nest of my family tree.
My greatest joy comes from my family.
Because of them, I plant my roots deep.
And that makes me strong.
Okay, I love this so much! And I love the pictures. You are so gifted.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great collection of picture. Love the one "from high above"!
ReplyDeleteLoved this, Sue. There's just nothing like family, is there?
ReplyDeleteOh, and yes, Michelle was here for her bday! soooo fun to see her!!
Oh sweetie, this was the most precious post ever!!!
ReplyDeleteLoved it!
God bless and have an extraordinary day sweetie!!! :o)
A beautiful thought to remember in all times, but especially in times of trouble.
ReplyDeleteWonderful photos that give a whole new meaning to the term "family tree."
ReplyDeleteTerrific post, this, deserves to be on a wall for all to see as they enter your home.
ReplyDeleteThis is wonderful! And where is that incredible tree? This needs to go in the next book!
ReplyDeleteYou always bring a smile to my face and sometimes a tear to go with it! Beautiful pics to go with a sweet poem. Families can be such a blessing and I always feel so bad when some people don't have a special connection to their families. Have a great week Sue!
ReplyDeleteYou put so much thought into the meaningful things you post. The words are wonderful but the pictures (which I assume are your grands) are just magical!
ReplyDeleteI too really love this. Our family tree is a great place to find peace and love!
ReplyDeleteActually, these photos are not my grandkids...though they are some lucky grandmother's grandkids! I just got them from flicker because I liked the idea of children in the "family tree" as illustration for the poem.
ReplyDelete=)
Sue,
ReplyDeleteThis makes me feel all warm and fuzzy. The combination of your wonderful photos and your splendid words is magic.

ReplyDeleteyes, of course, love this!!! and love how you seem to have an 'endless' supply of pictures of the cute kids!!! the way their eyes sparkle.
ReplyDeletethis is A.W.E.S.O.M.E.

You do always pick perfect pictures to go with each line of your poems. I know that everyone loves when you do these kinds of posts just as much as I do. What can I say? It just continues to show your amazing talent!!
ReplyDeleteWonderful analogy...plus you mirrored the feelings I had when I was ABLE to climb a tree. Great pictures, too, but the words could stand alone...beautiful.
ReplyDeleteA family tree is the safest place to be. :)
ReplyDeletebtw, Sue, I've been trying to locate the post you did on comforters...do you remember the date or title of that?
This poem will be a favorite of mine and I loved the pictures. There was a great deal of meaning threaded throughout this one. I still think we need a book of your lovely poems.
ReplyDeleteBlessings and hugs to you!
Beautiful. Family is so wonderful.
ReplyDeleteI love it all, but especially the images that it brings to my mind's eye.
ReplyDeleteIt's too bad that, when you create books with your words and your dil's photos, that you can't include the music you pair your work with in your blog.
ReplyDeleteLoved this!!!
There is nothing better than family! This is wonderful, Sue and I can visualize this written in calligraphy next to a framed family tree!
ReplyDeleteThis poem brought tears to my eyes. So nostalgic.
ReplyDeleteI really love, love, love that tree!
ReplyDeleteAaaah! I absolutely love this! Firstly, because I have a sweet love affair with trees. They were always my first love. Second because my family tree is simply amazing and I am so blessed to have them in my family.
