Library Lib

Central Library, Manchester, U.K., by Robin Gosnall

Take a whiff of joy-in-store,
of silent tomes that sing.
Ride your neurotransmitters
from Boston to Beijing.
Bust the bonds of gravity
and leave the earth behind.
Splatter scenes the eye can't see
across a canvas mind.
Don't write off the best in life
as "difficult to hold."
Wrap your hands around a book,
and watch the world unfold.

Oh the feel, the smell of printed pages, the love of holding a book..I do enjoy my Kindle but I still love a "real" book! Love this poem too!

And this is why I've never purchased a kindle. I have read a few books on my iPad, but it just isn't the same. Is it?

Could not agree more! This should be given to every child once they are able to read.

I love books. I could be stranded with books, fabric, and yarn for a long, long, time and be very happy.. vacation always includes a bag of books

I do love reading. Such a great escape! Currently I'm enjoying Garrison Keillor's "Pontoon." He has such a great way of saying something that is hysterically funny, yet very poignant all at the same time. And now that I work with folks in the corporate offices in Minnesota, it's doubly funny to me. Loved the poem, yah, you bet'cha.

So true, so true. I love this. Books are almost sacred, aren't they?
