CCR & 3 Dog Night? Outta Sight!

Three Dog Night was in rare form Friday evening.

After 42 years, the whole group is still together. And they sound great!

Credence rocked it too, but only two of their members were originals.

We LOVE this mountain venue near our home.

The place is a winery by day and a theater by night...

with lots of ambience (and a bit of magic) to spare.

Great views, too.

Except for this one, of course... *sigh*

We had lots of fun, but Friday had to be the coldest June night in California history, and I am not kidding. The wind was blowing like crazy, and the chill off the ocean was unbelievable. I had on my warmest coat with the hood up, was covered head to toe in a stadium blanket, and still froze to death. Human icicles filled the audience, and it is a testament to the talents of Three Dog Night and CCR that everyone stayed to the bitter(ly cold) end.

I suspect no one was sorry, either. (Just suffering from hypothermia.)

No worries. Frostbite was a small price to pay for the music Dave and I fell in love to...One Is the Loneliest Number, Mama Told Me Not To Come, Easy to Be Hard, An Old Fashioned Love Song, etc. from Three Dog Night...Suzie Q, Bad Moon Rising, Lodi, Down on the Corner, and so forth from CCR. Boy, did it ever take us back, waaaaay back, and we left with a heap of some old-time feeling that everything we could ever dream of lies before us...the one I used to think only the young can feel.

Clearly, I was wrong. (Just call me Suzy Q.) Maybe the prospect of Dave's retirement at the end of this month is giving us some good joss!

=)

Except for the cold, it all sounds wonderful - wish I could have heard them with you! Both bands were favorites of mine back in the day, and it's still fun to hear the old songs. I once sat through a football game of my son's up in Lancaster where it was just freezing cold. I got such a stiff neck from the cold I wound up with a migraine and was sicker than anything all the way home. Me no likee cold... But you lived through it and have a great story (and memories!) Good stuff.

You are so hip! I can't imagine my parents at a concert. Let alone staying to the end with the traffic and the cold.

Love those bands and songs...is it even possible that I am that old?! lol

I love both these groups. "Jeremiah Was a Bullfrog" represents Jr. High and CCR has a dozen songs I really love.

That's when music was good music! I would have stayed too! The pics are amazing..what a great place. I did laugh about it being cold..what was it? 65? We have thicker blood over here in the East! OK, just kidding!

Oh how cool! I had no idea these guys were still around. I can remember rushing home from school and plopping the 45's on the Hi Fi and dancing or singing to Creedence Clearwater Revival and Three Dog Night! Oh what memories. That is just too cool. And I would have froze to see them in concert too!~Ames

What a beautiful concert venue! Good music and good fun, to bad it wasn't a little warmer, but sounds like you had a great time anyway. Minus the traffic...lol!

How fun!! That looks like an amazing venue too! Looks like a blast...including the blast of freezing air you endured!

How great you were able to capture that old-time feeling - in spite of the "icicles"!

A winery by day and a theater by night? Clever combination.

What a fun place and thing to do together. Ahhhh retirement. But right now I am just hoping Hubs will get a job. Fingers crossed.

Darn! I just wrote a long post and it went away because I hadn't signed in yet. I thought sure Dick would have been on the computer before this but maybe he didn't go on this morning.

Anway, I'll repeat that I'm glad you got to go to such a neat concert and I am sorry that you got so cold. It REALLY must have been cold for it to have made you so cold you were miserable.

I would have enjoyed some of those tunes too, provided I could be toasty warm like we used to be when we went to the summer concerts at the Hollywood Bowl. How we did used to enjoy those.

What a night that must have been - the music, the venue...
When our daughter was picking the music she 'had' to have for dancing after her wedding, I was surprised at all the CCR that she'd picked. She said 'Mama, everyone loves it and it will make everyone get up and dance'. Just goes to show that good is good even after all these years.

I grew up on CCR--my father was a HUGE fan!

That's SO cool that you guys went to this! You are so cool, Sue. The coolest.

I wish I could have been there! The names of those songs brought it all back to me.

You go to the greatest concerts!! I get to the Eagles whenever they are within a drive...been to buffalo, columbus, DC, nashville, waiting for the next one. Those oldies (we oldies) still got it!! Looks like a great place to go. Crosby, Stills and Nash are coming locally, but it's the same day as a wedding we MUST attend. Always on the lookout for some good music!

My running iPod is filled with CCR and 3Dog Night. It sounds like a great concert! Maybe to ward off the cold, you could have run around a bit to their music or at least got up and danced while wrapped in your stadium blanket! ;)
