Closing Time

Times Square with all its cheer
cannot revive a year.
And no amount of pique
will slow a passing week.
No force on earth can stay
the closing of a day.
So give in...Count some sheep.
The dawn will keep.

Lovely...we set the clocks ahead 3 hours. It's the only way this party animal makes it to midnight.

What did ol' Bing Crosby say in "White Christmas"? Count your blessings instead of sheep? I guess either way will do! I feel like that guy on the ground after this week and I'm glad tomorrow is a day off! Happy New Year Sue!

Love that poem of yours!
Amazing the words that do pour...
From so creative a mind,
That has not writer's bind,
Nothing there but LARGE imagination!!

Happy New Year's to you!
We love all stories "Sue"..
and wait for the coming next crop,
reading blog posts till the ball drops,
Lauding our friend's newest creation!!!!

(disclaimer...sorry, just having fun...my writing is NOT yours!!! lol)Happy New Year!!

Sue, that is PERFECT!

That is my motto!
For sure...every year on New Year's Eve I go to sleep about 10:00 pm because the anticipation of some unrealistic change at the magic stroke of midnight never comes to pass anyway. Why not get a good night's sleep. The new year comes whether we stay up for it or not!

That about sums up our New Years too. We watch the ball drop in NY at 9pm our time and then kiss the old year goodbye.

One of my blessings of this past year Sue, is getting to know you better!

That photo is a little sad, though your poem gives such hope. I love the contrast!

Those words are so true and one can certainly live by them. I believe you might say that it is scriptural....consider the sparrows....

Amazing. Lovely. Perfect. Poignant.

I loved the rhythm of this word crafting...and the message? Sublime.

Thank you for sharing this thoughtful poem at years end...a message I need to remember!

Sue, I send warm wishes for a 2011 filled with joy, grace, discovery and adventure. I know you will have all those things...you deserve them!
