Do You Measure Up?

My mom called me yesterday just to read the following poem:

SUCCESS
by Martin Buxbaum

You can use most any measure
when you're speaking of success.
You can measure it in fancy home,
expensive car or dress.

But the measure of your real success
is the one you cannot spend.
It's the way your kids describe you
when they're talking to a friend.

Sounds right to me!

=)

PS. I suppose bribery would be inappropriate?

hec no! And with all your nobility from the previous post--you should be getting high praise indeed!

what if your kid doesn't talk? does grunting and reach for you in the arms of others count;-)

That gave me chills. I guess I'd better go hug my kids and whip up a batch of cookies; I want to earn brownie points.

Oh, that made me choke up a little--I must say I am grateful for the way my kids' describe me and our home to their friends. Just today, Mr. W overheard one of their friends say, "It always feels so homey here." to our youngest. Payday.

Don't know what they say, but if they hug you in front of your friends. . . .

I'm sure your kids only describe you in the very best ways! And, seeing as how they are grown, and good kids, I'm guessing the bribery worked? :)

by the way I may not be your "kid" but when I describe my MIL to my friends most seem rather jealous :)
