Whitney...And a Fish Tale

Somebody's hubby went salmon fishing in Oregon.

He and his buddy caught four BIG fish.

Guess who has 21 bags of delicious filets in her freezer!

Yep......That'd be me.

And this would be my fish-catchin' man
and eye-catchin' son atop Mt. Whitney.
(ID: The two super cute ones up front.)

Life is good.

Fly Me to the Moon

©2013 Susan Noyes Anderson

When I said, Fly me to the moon,
I did not mean by car.
If hot air's all you have to offer,
we won't get too far.

Balloons in every color never
won this woman's heart.
The man who keeps my engine running
has his own kickstart.

Oh sure, the props are pretty, and
the sky is bright and blue.
But if your kiss can't take me there,
I'm not the girl for you!

Hanging Gardens

We're pretty excited about my nephew's iTunes success.

His new album, Hanging Gardens, dropped today!
(click pic to enlarge and read what iTunes thinks)

iTunes chose one of the tracks as Single of the Week. (lower left)
THAT'S BIG.

And look where the album itself is positioned!  (upper right)
THAT'S BIG, TOO.

"All You're Waiting For" was definitely worth the wait.

Hey, every track of this chill and vibey album was worth the wait.
(my nephew is pictured on the left)

CONGRATULATIONS TO TYLER BLAKE

Service with a Smile

Seems like these photos are perfect for Leigh's Happiness Project this week. Why? Because working together for a common goal is the very best kind of happiness!

Each year, the LDS Church in California asks all of its 156 stakes to participate in a massive service effort to accomplish something great for their individual communities. This time around, my husband's young single adult ward, in cooperation with the rest of the members in our area, dedicated their energies to helping the local community college work on several tasks that its full-time groundskeepers haven't had time to accomplish. This is a large campus with an abundance of natural vegetation, so there was plenty to do. Seeing over 250 great people coming together to serve their community made me smile...Does it have the same effect on you?

Just step right up... And sign in, please.

You just might get to prune some trees.

This lovely guy will lead the way,

and tell you what to do today.

Just grab those rakes and trowels, my friends;

the joy of service never ends.

(It's even better, done with friends!)

This cool guy came, chainsaw in hand,

and this one joined our merry band.

My hubby, pictured on the right,

was bolstered by the happy sight

of willing helpers, tall and small,

who volunteered to give their all.

These lovely ladies donned their gloves

and this guy pushed his broom, because

they want our close community

to be the best that it can be.

So grab your spade, your axe, your hoe...

or maybe just your wheelbarrow...

and find a "service op" near you.

(Hey, you might score a hot dog, too!)

The Sweet Smell of Success: CLASSIXX

Tyler Blake (my nephew) & Michael David – Classixx

Success is sweet, and my nephew, Tyler Blake, is about to experience a whole new level of it. He and Michael David, aka Classixx, have put out some very cool singles over the years and hit it big with lots of remixes, but they tour so much it's taken them a while to release their first full album. That's all about to change, though, because their highly anticipated LP (Holding On) drops May 14th. Already, the reviews are good...and this one from the Huffington Post is especially fine. I hope you'll take a minute to read it. (Be sure to pass up the first section about Rhye and scroll down to the second part of the article, titled Classixx.)

Here, for your listening pleasure, are a couple of tracks from Holding On. Club music isn't my genre, but these California guys have a vibe that's as chill and mellow as a summer day. And listening to them is sure to make you happy.

Birthday Snake

Yes, folks, that's a real, live snake from my grandson's fifth birthday party. And the whole thing made him very happy, as you can see. (But am I wrong in noting just the slightest bit of anxiety in that great, BIG smile?) I am told this rather affectionate boa constrictor wrapped himself right around our birthday boy and started squeezing hugging! And I'll bet Mr. Snake was a heavy load to carry around, too!!

But all's well that ends well, and Bryce has survived to enjoy all the wonderful birthdays to come. Now if we could just get him to wear a helmet on his skateboard!
