So NOT the Reason for the Season

B is for BLOCKS

For the past 20 years, a set of vintage block letters spelling S-A-N-T-A has graced the top of our family room TV. The A's even have a Santa face. (Very cute, if I do say so myself!)

Anyway, in the olden days, when my rapidly aging sons (sorry, guys) were in their teens, one of their oh-so-charming friends was fond of rearranging those letters when I wasn't looking. Sometimes I wouldn't notice for a day or two, and I've often wondered what visitors to our home thought as they sat in our family room at Christmas time, nonplussed by this supposedly Christian family that apparently felt the need to give a holiday shout-out to S-A-T-A-N.

That kid loved to make me crazy. And you know what? He was good at it!

Oh yes, there's always one of the kids' friends who has the knack of knowing what will make Mum crazy!

That is too funny and so like something my kids would have done!

I love it!

We had the alphabet on the fridge and there were always wonderful messages.

That's funny! I've always loved a wicked sense of humor... Your blocks are darling - I'm always looking for new decorations like that to add to the collection. It's Christmas - ready or not!

This was a LOL moment. My children loved to do things like this. They then probably blamed it on their friends.
Blessings of joy dear friend!

My sons had a few friends like that over the years! Not my favorite ones, that's for sure.

Oh golly, Dick says he remembers that and do you know, this is the first time I ever could even picture it in my mind. I really had to laugh and to think that I never ever knew that until today. I don't know why Dick never mentioned it to me, but he noticed it himself one year. I can't even imagine why he didn't mention it to you, much less me. Anyway, I did have to laugh, and believe me, I really needed that laugh today. So thanks!!

I'm sitting here laughing out loud. This is something one of my son's friends would have done. I won't ever look at the word "Santa" the same!

Haha, I never thought how similar those two names -- "Santa" and "Satan" -- are.

Sue, it's great to see you again too. Yes, life keeps us busy and takes us in new directions - for better and for worse. Now, I'm really enjoying the better. Thanks for dropping by.

Love to you for a blessed holiday season.

I have been know to rearrange a display of coffee mugs with the alphabet on them in Target. They don't stay rearranged for very long, though. Darn!

I love those blocks but we have to be careful who plays with them! I really had a nice chuckle today. Enjoy the weekend.

What a wonderful story! I would have never thought about shuffling the letters :) Great letter blocks, too.

Stopping by from Alphabe- Thursday - mine for letter 'B' @ ImagesByCW is about beach photography

Until just now I didn't realize you could rearrange the letters in Santa to read Satan. It just never occurred to me. Nevertheless, I do like those blocks.

Hummmm....kind of reminds me of my husband and our foo foo bed pillows. He arranges them in the craziest ways. But I try not to touch them for fear he will quit making the bed. LOL! Merry Christmas!~Ames
