X-hilarating X-it!!!

Something x-citing is happening in our family on June 29th, a really x-hilirating something that has been nearly 40 years in the making.

(It's called retirement, the best x-it strategy ever!)

That's right folks. My more than x-cellent husband has been working with tremendous skill and dedication for approximately 2/3 of his life, and it's all going to end 8 weeks from tomorrow. Yep. You heard me right. In no more than 40 working days that man of mine will be free as a bird...free as the wind...free at last!

Can I get a witness??

=D

PS. Let the good times roll...

  1. Both of your lives will change. It's an adjustment, but it will be so nice being able to take off when you want.

  2. What? I think that's one way to work towards those clones of yourselves--no work=more play. Am I right?

  14. Wow - you have some very significant milestones coming up! I'll bet Dave is excited and yet having some mixed emotions too. I always thought that if I could be home I'd have so many irons in the fire, and I'm finding that it's hard for me to figure out what to do with myself. Of course, LaMar isn't here with me so it's a little different than if we both had our days free. I am still working but its so slow right now I have a lot of time on my hands. You and Dave have some pleasant and exciting plans to make coming up!

  15. Yikes! You wound like you are excited about this, but I have been through it, and believe me, it will be STRANGE for a while. Changing one's mindset is not easy, no matter what people think. Rod spent so many years on the road that I have thought if I never went on another "road trip" I would have died and gone to Heaven! He's getting better after 15 years, but I still worry!!!

  18. Congrats to both of you! The good times will roll! But you will need a little time to adjust to it all! I would love to retire! Sigh! I will probably be wheeling up to my desk until I am 72!

  19. Retirement has a magical sound to it! The Great Dane had retirement 'happen' to him last year when he had a that health crises. I will work for two more years, but I can almost taste and feel the freedom of retirement!

  20. I am happy for you both. Word to the wise. Hold tight to your purse strings. I blew through $29k the first year of my retirement. I was bored and had all the time in the world to go shopping! I got so bored I started volunteering at the local museum. So have a back-up plan....and stay away from the stores! :D~Ames

  24. Yes, I am counting the days too! That man has been waaaay too busy the past few years. I just hope you have a little time to yourself before they call you on a mission!!! If they do, I hope it will be after I am dead and gone because I don't know what I would do if I couldn't call you whenever I want.....Oh no, I could never stand that!

  30. Wow, that is awesome. I am hoping my good man will retire next year. I know that you will find many excited things to occupy your life. At least I have found way too much to do since I stopped being a nurse. In fact I am amazed at how busy I am.
