Shifting Gears

Robert and Shana ParkeHarrison

Shifting Gears
©2012 Susan Noyes Anderson

When things aren’t breaking quite your way
and this world leaves you stuck,
crank it up.

When boredom eats up every day
as you slog through the muck,
crank it up.

When troubles quite confound you,
when the view turns grey around you,
when no marvel can astound you,
crank it up.

Seek no tropical vacation.
Rise above inane flirtation.
Drink no mind-numbing libation.
Crank it up.

Spout no multiple causation.
Amplify the expectation.
Ramp up your (i)machination.
Crank it up.

  19. I love this and I like to think I move to its rhyme and meter...but we hosted someone dear this weekend who had nothing left with which to crank it up. I find myself somewhat haunted by it.
