My favorite day is Monday.
That’s the day the gardener comes.
I love to watch him pull the weeds
and plant chrysanthemums.
Sometimes he cuts back our front hedge
or prunes my climbing tree.
I watch him out the window,
and he turns and waves at me.
He doesn’t use a broom to sweep.
He uses a machine.
Just like a white tornado,
it blows all our sidewalks clean.
He waves again before he leaves
and hums a happy hum.
(But I wish he’d take his gloves off once
and show me his green thumb!)

ReplyDeleteI never tire of reading your poetry, Sue. I hope you don't tire of hearing how terrific it is!!
ReplyDeleteI love the green thumb pic.
ReplyDeletefun pics! I wish my gardener (DH) wasn't so allergic to all the pollen (or whatever it is) in the air! {:-D
ReplyDeleteTotally cute poem and pictures!!! The green thumb kind of creeps me out though!
ReplyDeleteToo cute! I think I'll go pick some strawberries now! :)
ReplyDeleteThis GREAT, Sue and what a neat tribute to your gardener. As a former gardener myself (I worked in some nurseries and public gardens when I was younger) I can tell you he'd appreciate this! :)
ReplyDeleteNice. I've never cared much for the gardener's green thumb, but always wished I had one of my own. Alas, definitely NOT one of my talents! Good thing I live in a place that things grow beautifully (and wildly) on their own. ;)
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love this! I desperately need your gardener to pay me a visit.
ReplyDeleteOh what a great post!! And I love the little boy looking out the window.

that my friend was awesome. and I have to admit, the one gardner dude was a hunk.
ReplyDeleteMy mom used to have a fantastic gardener - we learned all kinds of great gardening tricks and tips from him. I do love someone who can take such good care of my trees and plants and teach me a thing or two along the way!
ReplyDeleteI'd love to have a gardener! Great post.
ReplyDeleteOh I need a gardener in the worst way. Could I have the third one down please : )

ReplyDeleteCute, Sue!
ReplyDeleteI see my gardener every day...each time I look in my mirror. Yours is cuter and more talented, send him over! Cute poem!
ReplyDeleteI think I may have a green thumb.
ReplyDeleteLove this poem. I remember when you wrote it. We have a great gardener (you may have noticed) It's a good thing because neither one of us likes to garden.
ReplyDeleteGood job on the poem.
ReplyDeleteAt first I thought you were talking about your husband and I thought wow he looks different in each picture....ha ha.
Wouldn't it be great to have a gardener...sigh....
LOVE it!!! :)
