Gather Family

The earthy candleholder gracing the middle of our dining room table says it all for me today. (Can you read the words that made me pay a ridiculous price to make it mine?) I can and do read them. Often.

I'm looking forward with no small amount of gusto to the gathering of my entire family this weekend for a reunion that coincides with the last day in May, aka my 59th birthday. Swimming, sun, love, laughter, golf, and gluttony will prevail. I can't wait.

Because no kind of happy is happier than having all of my family together!

=)

PS. When I was young, I used to think Memorial Day was all about me. ;)

  9. Your Special Day is almost here! I hope you have the best celebration ever and enjoy every minute with your family. Birthdays should be all about having fun and enjoying the people you spend time with the most and love the best. Have a very happy one (although you have a few days to go...) I believe Memorial Day IS all about you, right? At least that's what I was told.

  30. Oh Sue, do you remember the year that we had a big birthday party for you and no one came? It was because of the Memorial Day Weekend and all of your friends were out of town with their parents. I called a few of the mothers in the Branch (Palm Springs was still a Branch) and told them my sad story and had them bring the kids that were older and younger than you were. I think we scrounged up about five or six kids. It was such a sad day. My memory isn't that great, but I will always remember that birthday. After that, I always checked to make sure they were going to be in town.

It won't be long now. Can hardly wait. Dick says if you don't come pretty soon all our our freezer space (and we have three of them) will be absolutely gone. I can't seem to stop baking and making good things to eat.

  31. Yep, I remember it well. I think I ended up with two or three guests, max.

You did a good save, though.

    =)

  32. Gee, it must be fun to have a holiday birthday each year! Although I did laugh at your Mom's comment..I guess it's not always so great to have it on a holiday! Sounds like it's going to be a fun time and spending it with those that love you is the best! I'll be thinking of you!

  37. I hope you have a wonderful weekend and birthday Sue!

My friend's birthday is on Veteran's Day and she convinced her children that her birthday was a national holiday and that was why she could always take off for her birthday.
