The Blessing...and the Blessings

Remember this post about little Sully, my niece's baby who was born with kidney problems? Well, we are thrilled to report that his doctors are nothing short of amazed at how well he is doing. His issues still have to be monitored on an ongoing basis, of course, but he is clearly thriving despite them...due in large part, I believe, to the love and care of his parents. (And many answered prayers.)

Here he is with Mom on the day he was blessed.

He put in some quality time with Dad, too!

Look at that happy smile. What a lucky little guy he is.

Yep, I said it. He's lucky, despite the health problems he'll be dealing with, on one level or another, throughout his life. Sullivan is lucky because of his family, and his siblings-to-be will count themselves lucky too...not just in their parents, but in having a big brother who knows how to walk through struggles with the joy available to all of us who are loved deeply and well. This little Sully is going to develop a strength and wisdom beyond his years, and everyone around him will be blessed many times over.

*Note: My sister, aka Grandma, tells me Sullivan already possesses a personality beyond his years. Apparently, he brought that gift with him...no development needed!

Can't wait to get my hands on this baby! (He and his parents are coming to our Newport Beach reunion at the end of this month.)

=D

You know, I always have such tremendous admiration for parents who have to endure all the trials associated with having a child with health problems. God truly gives them the strength they need. It's great news to hear he is doing better. God bless them all.

I have two granddaughters who have had health problems and I can say that these little spirits that come down with these challenges are indeed great blessings and they are unique in their gifts.
