Autumn in Madeira - Jacek Yerka Susan's Season ©2014 Susan Noyes Anderson |
Fall is a cozy season, made
to match my patchwork house.
What better spot for cider hot,
doughnuts for man
and holes for mouse?
Fall is a spicy season, round
as pumpkins, brisk as tea.
Red-orange leaves tumble from trees,
crunch crunch and crumble,
all for me.

I love Fall! It's harvest time and colorful beyond belief in upstate New York. The smells are awesome from the apple cider to the wagon loads of sweet smelling hay. Yes, this is my favorite time of year.
I'll offer doughnuts for man but oh no holes or anything for any mice! Hehehe, but I would rather they stay far from my house! Sue, this is a most enjoyable poem for this lovely time of year!
I really like the light and fall color, a wonderful!
You described it perfectly!
I wish I had this!
Nineteen years and I still ache for fall.

I've just crumbled in pure delight!
I don't like fall at all ! It's the beginning of winter !
Its cosy time by the fire , among the falling leaves , while here in Antipodes we prepare for the annual trial by searing heat !
Fall foods are among my favorite seaonal delicacies!
I read this and imagined I was smelling cinnamon. Mmmm. Now I want some hot cider.
May I join you in your season for Susan? Our leaves have turned and the warm spell we've had turns cold and wet on Saturday...perfect for that hot cider and donuts!
I really love fall and I enjoyed this poem very much. I have special feeling during the changing season; but a soft spot for fall.
Blessings for this one!
Oh! I so need a donut now...
oh, my lost again, my post!!
So love this poem and the season of fall. Crisp air and fires in the fireplace this weekend. Comfort food, and patchwork!
Keep writing for me!!
I love that picture, and as always your words are perfect..
Enjoy the season!
And me, and me. You can’t have it all, even if you can write about it beautifully!
fall is my favorite season...i get to take out the quilt...enjoy some spiced cider...and watch the world tuck in for a pause before the sleep...and well one last show with all the flashy colors too...smiles.
This is a delight ... a wonderful, whimsical post.
So crunchy a poem...love the brisk as tea analogy.
