Ophelia by Odilon Redon |
Sea-zed

Sometimes I lie down in deep waters,
get lost in brine-green grasses,
abandon myself to bottom dwellers,
find redemption in abalone shells.
Life shimmers at me, mostly,
dances over murky seas,
catches the light.
Floats possibilities.
Flowers cover my throat, spring from my breast.
Carried on the tide, I like the ride.

Looking back I want to congratulate Dave on retirement...and you on the beautiful picture of the two of you!! Next loved the Jenny census...hahahaha!
Third...I'm much too non-intellectual to comment on this one. I read it two times and my take on it is that life is murky alright....you never know what's around the corner....and flowers will be lying on your chest!!
Your poem is beautiful, and Redon is a favorite artist of mine.
A light-hearted version of the Ophelia story. Well done.
Succinct yet covering so much! A fitting piece indeed!
I know that feeling, sinking and giving yourself up to the water. I loved it.
i like me a little shimmering life....lots and lots of possibilities....
and io might have to try that trick in soaking the PJs...haha...
hit 104 again today...brutal...
I find letting the tide carry me is easier than fighting the current! Many days I want to sink to the bottom where it's quiet..but bottom dwellers aren't the best company!
There's a moment like that in every good summer - one moment. I'm waiting for it.
Definitely a poem simply wonderful.
Liking the ride is the best part too, isn't it :)
Loved this different (happy) take on the prompt.
Written so beautifully... I especially like the 1st stanza.
Sometimes I still dream about when I went swimming every morning - that sound of the water in my ears, and how everything sounded under water. Very dreamy and peaceful.
Just sweet! I really loved this one alot. I so enjoy your poetry. You do have a gift.
Blessings and hugs to you!
Hope floats, I love your dreamy Ophelia poem. It has a floating cadence. Thanks, Sue.
My favorite line is, " find redemption in abalone shells." Lovely!
Very nice .. though it brings my fear of being underwater right to my surface!
i like the brine green grasses
Wonderful take on this prompt - vivid and delicious. k.
I like how playful this is.
I love the ride, - float- like that !
good one thanks!
Oh Sue. This was just beautiful.
It really touched me.
Speaking of touching...
Sue is going to call you.
Ummm...
That sounds weird, doesn't it?
I mean touching as in hugging.
Oh darn.
Never mind.
that's cool! I love these new pieces you've been writing!
Dreamlike..........I’m very relaxed now.

Now I want to go swimming in a lake. You are so good with this! I am no good at finding imagery, and take things at face value. I know there is much deeper meaning somewhere, but for me, I will just continue to long for a good swimming hole. :)
