That's right! Saturday Centus is knocking at the door again, and this week Jenny's got Halloween in her sights (thanks to a little help from our friend, Anna). Having already added my 100 words to her prompt, which is in red, I offer the following itty bitty story for your perusal:
All Hallow’s Eve
The mood was electric as the little group hurried from door to door––five giggling ghouls, illuminated by a witch's moon.
"Trick or treat!" they shouted as the door opened..."
“Trick or treat? Sorry, kids; you’ve got it wrong. Halloween was Thursday.”
“Maybe you’ve got it wrong, lady,” said the ghost, leaning forward. “Here’s the thing. We have leftover tricks. Lots of ‘em.”
“We do,” hissed the grim reaper. “Hideous ones.”
The woman stared incredulously at the scary little gang on her doorstep.
“So, what’ll it be?” asked Frankenstein's bride.
A chilly gust of wind blew the door open as another victim made her way to the kitchen.

So I guess the moral of this story is: Beware late trick or treaters - there might be more than meets the eye...? I consider myself warned. Good spooky short story with a twist at the end!
Oh very clever, a great SC, I loved it! :o)
Scarily spooky...

This was nice and spooky Sue. Sounds like the start to a nice scary story! I just read your last post about your nephews - obviously talent runs in your family! Kat
Ha! Your music was spooky too...
so...
which is going to get the trick? hmmmmm....
That was a good one Sue- I' curious about what tricks Frankenstein's bride has?
I don't quite get it :/
How do you do this Sue? Really, how? Do you even dream creatively?
The scary music just makes the story even better lol. Great job.
Ok let's see Halloween is Saturday? Or is it Sunday? Oooh I better this right. Can't send the kids out on the wrong night, and especially to your place. Creepy!:)~Ames
Sue...you always surprise me. Good one!
Sue, that was wonderful! And the music! Perfect! I wish I had thought of that music. I have some but it is Night on Bald Mountain--not nearly as recognizable as yours!!
Another good one! Seems like you just keep these good ones coming every Saturday. I always like your endings, never know what the heck they are going to be like. I love surprise endings and you are very good at them.
Loved your twisted fairy tale. 'Tis the season to beware of things that yell....'trick or treat' in the night! Baaahhhwwwhwaaaaa!!! (that was my scary ghost sound) I feel ya'll shakin' in your boots!
Ya'll have a marvelously blessed weekend! :o)
Oh, I wouldn't have wanted to be that lady. :) Some more of your great talent showing in this one sweet Sue. Hugs
Great imagination and scary stuff.
Sue you have a dark side - (creepy laughter!). I love that you put a Frankenstein's bride in there!
Hmmm..I'm having a Halloween party on Sat. and we're taking "victims" to the Creepy Woods for some scary stories over a campfire and some surprises jumping out of the woods..maybe I'll use this story! Good job!
Now THAT was creepy...and I laughed and laughed and laughed because you sucked me right in!!!
Creepy for sure. I am a little chilled thinking that just could happen
Love it thanks :)
This is awesome, Sue!I love your voice's dark side! It's shockingly devious and fun.

Awesome job, Sue! How quickly we forget that many of the little trolls who beg for candy (and then hit us up for more claiming they are the last trick-or-treaters we will see tonight) are the same evil scoundrels who soap our car windows, toilet paper our yards and throw eggs at our houses. LOL!
What a neat "true writer's" mind and imagination you have! You are amazing!!!
This seems so scary in its realism! Nicely written.
Teresa
Great imagination! I really enjoyed this one!
so cute, Sue!
Do you ever run outta ideas?
Oh, conniving! What a truly viscous idea. I am slightly ashamed of them and slightly in awe of their genius.
Sue, You've outdone yourself! This is fabulous - so rich with imagery and mischief. As usual, beautiful writing.
Thanks..........cj
I think those kids came here last year!
Love the evil twist on the innocent tradition. Maybe she can give them ground glass brownies...OK. No. That would jsut be wrong on a lot of levels.
Thanks for sharing your amazing story-telling skills with us on this spooky little Halloween treat!
