I wrote yesterday about the literal storm that has accompanied our figurative one. Shortly after posting my thoughts, we lost power. Lighting as many candles as was feasible, I spent the night in relative darkness, alone because my husband was at the church conducting interviews until quite late. I must admit that my thoughts were somewhat melancholy, but the flickers of light throughout the house brought with them a feeling of peace and comfort. The storm was raging outside, but I remained safe and warm in the shelter of our home.
This afternoon, I am still without electricity (in fact, I'm in Starbucks using the free wi-fi right now), but the rain has stopped and the sun is peeking through clouds that no longer look so threatening. My focus is on spiritual things, and I am aware of the synchronicity that so often happens in life. Storms come and storms go, and sometimes their intensity and duration is hard to bear. But shelter is only a prayer away. And always, even when our own power wanes, there will be enough light to guide our footsteps through the darkness until, in the Lord's good time, we are invariably led into the brightness and promise of another day.
"Hope is the thing with feathers that perches in the soul."
I love Emily Dickinson.
And I am hoping and hoping and hoping.
And praying.
With feathers and with faith.
Love you, K & C

My prayers are with you. Good luck with this struggle. Love you!
Hold on...the light will come.
I am reminded of that great song.
Hugs to you.
And tonight will be a night of heartfelt prayer for you and yours. I know you have done the same for those I love.
And we both know that when the righteous cry the Lord hears and "delivereth them out of all their troubles" (Psalms 34:17)...
I pray your heart(s) will soon be trouble free...
Love,
Snarky's Mama
you are always so kind in leaving comments for me.. I would like to return the favor and let you know that I love your post about feeling peace. That is what I am praying for, for you and your family
Sue, whatever has distrubed the peace in your life, I pray will resolve soon and leave peace in it's place. My thoughts are with you.
i hope your power comes back soon! although i also hope you are enjoying lots of great smelling candles. and then i hope you enjoy the happiness that always comes after the storm:-) also, feel free to insert "i love emily GIBSON" where dickinson falls;-)lol
Thanks for all your prayers. Yesterday, I can truly say that we were (and will continue to be) buoyed up by everyone's love and faith.
It is a beautiful thing, Prayer. You give a great analogy that prayer is our way of turning on the light of hope.
I hope and pray for you and yours.
Hope the temporal power is back too.
I'll be thinking about you today (and every day) and sending out prayers on your behalf. You've been so kind to me, how can I not return the favor? Hope your power comes on soon as well- for me its fun when it first happens, but then enough is enough. You all really got hammered up there. We just got the kind, gentle storm.
