Sometimes I curl my toes
against the tide.
Immovable, I catch
a swell of pride
and ride it nowhere.
Only I hold sway.
No force of nature
spirits me away.
A pity that I'm stuck
in shifting sand,
somewhere between
cool water
cool water
and
dry land.
dry land.
This week's motif was acceptance.

This wonderful Sue.....we all feel stuck at some point. Working myself on getting unstuck....so this was very timely!

Fantastic.
ReplyDeleteI seem to have lost my words. Yours still inspire me.
Were you talking to me, Sue? I have known that wave of pride that takes me nowhere. I could never have put those words together - so perfect for what they mean to me.
ReplyDeleteHave a good weekend!
i just got back from the beach,
ReplyDeleteand enjoyed the water, and the sand.
but shifting sand takes on other meaning
as well - and there seems much of it
in our world.
Life can be so tough. But you are strong and immovable....even on shifting sand.
ReplyDeleteApropos way to finish my week at Oceanside!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, inspiring...
ReplyDeleteSometimes we just have to hold on tight and not let the wind, sand, surf, or storms move us to a dark place...hold on and see what treasures are buried in tomorrow's sand!
ReplyDeleteAs always just amazing! This one has deeper meaning on more than one level. You are such a fantastic poetress; such a gift.
ReplyDeleteBlessings and hugs~
lovely piece of writing
ReplyDeleteBeautiful poem, Susan. We have to accept that even when we are standing perfectly still the earth is hurtling through space at 30 kilometres per second...
ReplyDeleteIs stuck a good thing or bad?
