No Bridges
©2013 Susan Noyes Anderson
Stand beside me.
Make me stretch
my branches high,
transcend the morning sky
with me; don't count
my rings and ridges.
Crowd me a little,
just enough to warm.
Remind me our love
needs
no
gotta love it when your love needs no bridges....nice relation to the tree as well...dont count my rings...ha...yes lets not go there...juse be with me...smiles.
ReplyDeleteJust lovely and powerful thoughts in this poem. I loved the picture of the tree it was perfect for the words.
ReplyDeleteBlessings~
Love don't need bridges .. love are the bridges.. those rings.. like an old oak.
ReplyDeleteI love this Sue...for me, trees are so full of metaphorical lessons, as your poem underlines.
ReplyDeleteVery, very nice. The best of love really needs no bridges. I enjoyed this very much.
ReplyDeleteYou speak of such an enduring love, and it warms my soul.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed the compactness: full, each word counting ~ M
ReplyDeleteThanks for the lovely reminder, smiles ~ Good to see you at D'verse ~ Happy Tuesday ~
ReplyDeleteHow romantic!
ReplyDeleteSince Jack is so much taller than me I do have to stretch my branches! Thankfully, he knows better than to count the "rings" on me! Ha! As always, a lovely poem!
ReplyDeleteVery nice. We can learn a lot from trees. :-)
ReplyDeletebridges are gone, just a con, love needs none as it is spun
ReplyDeleteLovely, Sue.
ReplyDeleteThe tree, steady, secure, strong...like a love rooted in the ground. Enjoyed this.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful poem, Sue! I also loved this song--one of my favorites sung by Judy Collins
ReplyDeleteBeautiful and gentle - the kind of love that will last
ReplyDeleteNeed not be overly concerned with the nitty gritty! There're others, one being love that needs nurturing! Agreed. Great write Sue!

Very meaningful love poem, Sue. I love trees and rocks, their solidity always capable of outliving us; giving us a sense of permanence.
ReplyDeleteJudy Collins' "Since You Ask" is a bonus. Lovely meaningful song.
Lovely thoughts and music to go with! Thanks Sue!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful poem, I love that picture of beautiful fall colors!
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful, Sue! You write the most lovely verses. I wish you could see your Fruit of the Vine poem framed and hanging proudly in my parent's home. They treasure it.
