The Jig Is Up

A Touch of Evil

The jig is up; yer nuttin’ but
a stinkin’, snitchin’ lug.
Ya think I’m headin' to da joint
cuz you can’t shut yer mug?

That shyster you been singin’ to
ain’t gonna save yer neck.
I’d cap ya right now fer two bits;
I’d even take a check.

Ya had to blab to some dumb broad.
(Lay off that giggle juice.)
Ya put the finger on me; now
I'm gonna cut ya loose.

It ain't healthy to rat me out.
I'll break ya, like Ma's dishes.
I’m seein’ youse in concrete shoes,
swimmin’ wit' da fishes.

So shut yer stupid yap, capisce?
They say that talk is cheap.
But squealin' ain't, so save yer breath
or I'll put ya to sleep.

  11. Bein' half Italian, and having a husband from NY, I really got a kick out of your Magpie. Especially the phrase swimming' wit' da fishes". Great job getting the Brooklyn accent across.

    I "capisce!" indeed!

  14. I could just picture these lines in a 1950's movie. I love it; how cute this one is. Have you ever wrote a play; maybe you should think about it. Did you ever write a Road show? I wish they still did those; they were so much fun.
    Thanks for the smile today........

  18. Gangster Sue! ;)

You are supremely talented! You can go from a haiku to a whatsamadderforyou with ease! Now that's what I call range!

p.s. I am not even sure what a haiku is, but it seemed to rhyme. I just mean--you are good at everything! :)

  21. That's why I like the prompts from Magpie Tales and Jenny Matlock...because they inspire me to write things and go places I might not otherwise do.

    =)
