Undercutting Unhappiness

Do you climb the same old hill day after day,
but it just isn't working for you?

Remind yourself that it is more than okay
to try something else...Something new!

Don't think only one path can lead to your dreams.
There is more than one way to arrive.

No journey is ever as hard as it seems.
Don't get stuck. Get creative, and thrive.

If you waste time judging the place where you are,
bemoaning the places you've been...

You'll run out of time to reach up for that star
and grab hold of the good life again.

So look for the best, and the best will find you.
Be unsinkable, like Molly Brown.

Move forward. Press on. Make some changes. Break through.
You can take that unhappiness down!

  1. Great wisdom here, Sue.

My favorite short reminder is: move a muscle; change a thought. (Leads to changing an attitude every single time for me.)

  2. This was so timely for me, Sue! I've just finished reading a book by John Ramsey (father of JonBenet Ramsey) that was incredibly inspiring - "The Other Side of Suffering." I expected it to be interesting, but didn't expect to be inspired to increase my own spirituality because I was so impressed by his and what he'd managed to accomplish in the face of so much tragedy. Anyway, today I did try to change a little, grow a little, start new and better habits in a few areas.

  3. I like that...'you can take that happiness down!'...never thought of it that way. Ha!

And Karen...Thank you for the book tip. I read the one years ago by his wife. I didn't realize he had one out too...so I will go look for it now. Thanks!!

  7. So true, Sue. See? I am a poet! :)

I like that you've reminded us that we can make changes in our lives to bring about happiness. I SO agree with you. While we can't always control life's circumstances, we can certainly take charge of certain things. And not allow life's disappointment s to sink us.

    I really loved this one.

  24. Yes, yes!! I needed that.
I spend a lot of time talking to clients about change
    "If nothing changes, nothing changes"
    or
"You can't keep on doing the same thing and expect a different outcome"
Time for me to take some of that advice as I approach a big date!

  28. This was such an inspirational post for the letter "U"...

Every morning I wake up I make a conscious decision to be happy and continue moving...

"If you can't fly, run. If you can't run, walk. If you can't walk, crawl, but by all means keep moving" MLK Jr.

    Unbelievable job!

    A+
